rough action on goodrich 120

Post by Aaron Gemmill »

my goodrich has developed some kind of snag right in the sweet spot between 1/2 and 1/2 volume that i'm usually trying to stay in... does anyone have advice on how to smooth this out? can i use some kind of lubricant?

Aaron,
I had the exact same problem with my Goodrich pot petal about a week ago. Although the pot was not making any noise, it was my problem. I put a small drop of 3 in 1 oil on the shaft where it comes out of the pot and after a little use, it smoothed right out. Assuming yours is a pot petal, remove the string. If it is smooth with the string off but rough feeling with the string on, the problem is either the string or the pot. I hope this helps. It's a very annoying problem.

also, as just happened to me, you may just have a string that loosened up enough to jerk at that spot. first, see if you can tighten the string tension up from one end or the other without taking it apart!
