I'm trying to establish some history on this Emmons guitar with invoice #2556. I think it was probably made somewhere between 1965 or 1966 but don't know for sure.
Does anyone remember ever seeing this guitar??
This red case might jog someone's memory...
Or this modified control panel...
The fifth KL lowers string 4 on C6th...
This is an interesting guitar, in that it has 9 wide pedals (tops are painted grey) with the narrow 2 1/2" spacing like the later PP models. Any helpful input would be appreciated!

Bobbe Seymour had one of these at his store awhile back. I found it quite unique having the wood necks. My '66 D-10 below is invoice/serial #2615. Both of my '66's have the aluminum. NR

Several years ago at the TSGA Jamboree early 90's, someone had one like this for sale and it was supposed to have belonged to Sonny Garrish at one time as the story goes. It too had wood necks! Don't know what ever happened to it though.

Bobbe,
Could you please post or email me anything you can remember about the history of this guitar? Did you acquire it from the original owner? Was anything done to it at your shop before it was subsequently sold to our mutual friend in Texas? It looks like there could have some restoration work done at some point. Someone has bypassed the tone control and replaced the neck switch with a non-correct one.

I haven't heard anything from Bobbe, so I suspect he may not remember who owned this guitar before he did. He buys and sells lots and lots of guitars, so I can certainly understand, if that's the case. I'm just hoping someone might see this and remember it. I had a chance to play it on the bandstand last weekend for the first time. The bolt-on Emmons actually do sound a little different than the cut-tail guitars! The wood necks on this one probably make a difference too. One pickup appears to be an original and they are both wound pretty thin, compaired to todays Emmons pickups.

Sunburst, mahogany...???
Bobbe, are you feeling alright?  Lynn's guitar is a 66 black mica, not a lacquer finish 76 sunburst!

Bobbe,
Someone told me this guitar of mine that was originally owned by you may have a mahogany cabinet covered with birdseye maple. Is this correct? I thought most all Emmons guitar cabinets were made of solid maple.
I bought the '66 black mica bolt-on from our friend in Rockport, Texas. He told me he bought it from someone that bought it from you, then decided to sell it again because he doesn't play C6th. If that is true, I was hoping you might remember some history on it prior to when you sold it.

Yes, this is the guitar I was talking about, What a history this guitar had. I restored it 5 years ago, put those keys on it and this IS the mahogany guitar.
Yes, most all Emmons guitars did have a maple body, this one didn't because I told Ron Lashly to make me a Mahogany cabinet, I wanted to see just how much of the tone was because of the body being maple.
The answer, not much it seems. Its the shape, mass, suspended method at the castings etc.
This was a great guitar but it took some ageing to get where it sounds as good as it does now.
Good guitar Lynn, with a great history. I do remember your '66 also. I also restored that guitar.
