I'm probably naive and looking for the impossible, but here goes anyway. I need an inexpensive 10 string lap steel for practice when I'm away from home. Please send me a PM if you can help. Thanks, Fred. [/u] |

There's 10-string Rick lap steel on eBay at this time. Actually, it's been there for several months.
The seller has had it priced at over $6,000, and it didn't muster a single bid. He dropped the price to
$3,200 and it again, failed to generate any bids. It's on again, I believe, at $3,500!
You might be able to negotiate a deal of one kind or another. |

MSA SuperSlide $1500 dollars. Also see Sonny Jenkins' post concerning his latest project. I think he said he's working on a 10 string now. Sonny's prices are unbelievably low and the keyless tuner makes it an ideal travel instrument. |

...usually from an old pedal steel guitar. Do you notice all those double-necked steels which have had one neck removed and replaced by a pad ? The removed parts usually end up in a home-made instrument such as this. |

Not sure about the builder but I can make a pretty good guess where the parts came from. And that in itself is not as important as how it was put together. It would probably fill the bill just fine for what you are looking for. |
