My thanks to everybody for making me and my group feel like we were at home. We enjoyed doing our little part of the show and I and Ernie, Earl, Drew, Walt and Jan had a great time visiting with our old friends.

What a great show and great pickers!!!!
A wonderful place to have the show.
The acoustics were the best.
The whole band sounded great but
Jenee on the fiddle sure added a lot
to the show I thought.

First chance I've had to post about the Gospel steel Show. All I can say is WOW!!!!. You missed a Terrific Show of Great Gospel Music. Everyone that played was Superb. A Big Thanks to Doug Rolfe for putting something like this together and Bill Ferguson for doing such an Outstanding Job With The Sound. I don't think it could have been better. Already looking forward to Next Year..... Eddie

I'm glad to hear you all had such a wonderful show in Nashville. Venda and I sang and preached at a weekend crusade here in Missouri and couldn't make it. There's nothing like gospel music that lifts the soul. So, if you want to hear more gospel music, tune into steelradio.com the 2nd Sunday of every month, from 2-4 p.m. and hear some of our great steel players play gospel music. We did our first broadcast at the St.Louis convention last year and I interviewed Doug Rolfe on the air. There's no doubt that Doug loves the Lord and there's no doubt in my mind that Doug has a love in his heart for steel guitar players. I believe he would like to see every steel guitar player know Jesus as his Savior. Don't forget, 2nd Sunday, 2 p.m.on steelradio.com. Tune us in and turn us up, as Michael Scott would say!

We just got home a bit tired but a "wonderful and up-lifted" tired !! What a great show with many, many super players and vocalist's. The theater was great and Bill Ferguson's sound wizardtry was great.
Thanks Doug and Stevie for having me up to do the keyboard work again this year at the show. My thanks to all the other staff band members for making my weekend very enjoyable, you're all such great players. We're looking forward to next year.

I had a great time also and just wanted to say that the sound was the best. Bill Fergusen did a great job and what a wonderful guy to boot, and plays great also. The tribute to John's wife had everybody in tears. I also enjoyed, as always, L.T. Zinn who is the life of the party. Bobbe Semour did a fantasitic job as did Jerry Roller on the Dobro, man that guy "gets it done". Austin and Jerry, what can I say except WOW. And of course, David Spires always blows me away.

What a great show Doug! Already looking forward to next year. I hope someone took some photos and will post them.

Wow, what a great weekend.
Doug and Stevie put on a great show.
I am proud to be (I hope permanant) member of the staff.

It was great working at the Troubadour Theater. It was a first for me.

The staff at the theater made my job a breeze.
AND
I want to thank Mike Siler for working with me on my set. It was so much fun.

Not to mention, Janee Keener Bleener, Joe Arview, Jim Hartley, Wayne Smith, Rob Macketchren, guest female vocalist and my main man, Roy Rosetta.

It was such a blessed weekend.

What a Great time at The Gospel Steel Guitar Convention!! This was our first time there (thanks to my good friend Albert Svenddal for inviting us down). Everyone was so friendly and easy to work with . Great sound and great pickers. Super house Band. Thanks to Doug and all who are involved in putting the show together.Hope to see you all next year. I just wanted to say a great big """WOW"" what a great time i had getting away from the house and getting to hear some of the best music that could be herd gospel and by some of the worlds best pickers to say the least. i had a great time and if """GOD WILLING""" if it is at the E.T. Theatre i will be there if they will allow me. To any of you that missed this show it was absolutely fabulous and your loss was our gain. again thanks to the GOSPEL STEEL ASSN. for putting on this great show so close to the center of the music world.

I just wanted to tell all how much I enjoyed The Gospel Steel show this past weekend.It was special to have Jean Hughey back at a steel show. I guess that my most heartfelt moment was when Austin Stewart dedicated Look At Us to the late,great but never forgetable John Hughey. Donna and I first seen and heard Austin at the Dallas show. We immedietly became fans and are very proud of him and for him.I am going to order a dvd of the show and pray that when Austin was ending Look At Us that when the show is edited they will leave in the after moments when there was not a dry eye in the house and Austin picked up his boot from the floor,hugged and consoled by the emcee and hobbled off the stage. Also, Lloyd Green loved his rendition of Juke Box Charlie.

Hi Herman. Thank you for your description of those moments on the show with Austin. I had heard bits and pieces of what happened, but your description brought it home for me and brought me to tears. I am Austin's mother, and I too hope to see a bit of video of this, since I stayed home and missed seeing those moments.

John meant more than I even realized to Austin and he has always loved Jean as well. Austin had to miss John's funeral and has really not had a chance to greive. I hope what he did at the gospel show and then being able to talk to Ms. Jean afterward, helped him to grieve a bit. Austin has never shown emotion like that over anything, so I hope people realize he does this from his heart. He plays that song at home, and cries when he plays it then too. So, he knows when he plays that song, he is going to cry, and for Austin to make the choice to let people see his heart like that is huge, and take a lot out of him. Those of you that know him, know how shy he is and how far he has come to even be able to smile, or shake hands, let alone let people see whay he feels inside.

Thanks again for sharing that moment.

Oh, and for those who are wondering about the "picking up his boot" comment...Austin had gotten a new pair of boots before the show and they were not broken in. He was having trouble hitting his pedals and took his boot off and tossed it in the middle of his set. Kids!

I want to say a special thanks to Mike Sweeney & Bill Ferguson for loaning me their guitars Friday & Saturday. And by the way Bill, the sound was incredible as usual. We want to thank everyone who came, volunteered, and worked their fannies off helping to make this undoubtedly the best show that we’ve ever had at GSGA. There are so many that contributed to the success of the show that if I tried to name them, I would no doubt leave out someone and do not want to do that. We are planning on doing it again at the same location, hopefully the first Friday and Saturday of May. I will keep you all informed as soon as we have something locked in regarding the place and dates for next year. It was our joy to see so many come and be blessed by all of the awesome talent that we saw there. Words cannot adequately describe the spirit of joy and family atmosphere that we sensed this year. The Lord truly honored the efforts of those made it happen.

IT WAS REALLY A WONDERFUL TREAT TO BE WITH DOUG AND STEVIE AND THE WHOLE GANG AGAIN. WHAT A GREAT GROUP OF PICKERS, INCLUDING THE HOUSE BAND, WHO, INCIDENTALLY, PLAYED AS GOOD AS ANY I'VE EVER HEARD.
THE NEAT THING IS THAT GOD PUT HIS APPROVAL ON THE SHOW IN SEVERAL WAYS AND THAT IS IMPORTANT, ESPECIALLY FOR A GOSPEL SHOW.

TO EACH OF THE STEEL PLAYERS I MET FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR, THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE AND FOR BEING SO MUCH FUN TO WORK WITH.

LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR ALREADY!

I know some of the musicians went to see Dottie Rambo at the Texas Troubadour Theater that Saturday evening with Doug Jernigan playing. I just heard that she died in a Bus crash. I wonder who saw this concert?? Albert

Thanks for posting about Dottie Rambo. I didn't see the concert, but sure wish I had now. She was a GREAT singer!!!!!!!!! I remember in my younger days of hearing Dottie, Reba & Buck. All were wonderful singers. I'm sure she will be missed.

ALBERT I seen the concert it was the only time I ever got to hear her live but we could tell she was not at the top of her game as i have herd on albums etc. i am so glad that I got the chance to hear her that one time any way, On the older stuff she did great and the crowd got into the older stuff also.
