The May edition of the recorded continuous airing of "Swingin' West" has just come up on the Internet on twangtownusa.com. It will be on 24 hours a day seven days a week, over and over, for the entire month.
The theme for this month, May, is a salute to some of the stars of this year’s Augusta Swing week. Among the sounds you will hear will be from CDs by Philadelphia, PA’s Beats Walkin’ with Wendi Bourne featured on vocal. You will enjoy vocalist and guitarist Roger Bellow as well as the great Paul Anastasio joining Roger from a prior Augusta Swing Week. Also on that album is bassist Kathy Reitz who will also be featured in a set of tunes with her and husband Marv in the spotlight. There is also a set as a tribute to the special guest of this year’s Swing Week, Western Swing Legend, Johnny Gimble.
You will enjoy a couple of sets of new material including a cut from an upcoming CD featuring some of Ft. Worth’s greatest musicians including Buddie Hrabal, Chuck Cusimano, Dale Morris Jr., Billy Martin, Danny Adams and Chip Bricker. Also included will be a cut from the new Kelli Grant CD where she is backed up by many former Bob Wills Texas Playboys, including husband, Johnny Patterson. Another new CD included is by a young talent, Mary Allen-Keating where she is backed by the legendary River Road Boys.
Also heard will be a special request for a big hit song by Reid Wells and Segovia 1862. The recently deceased former Bob Wills fiddle player, Frankie McWhorter is heard doing the show’s closing theme.
