I know that there have been many players on here who have extolled the virtue of Mr Coop's workmanship.
I finally got my parts this week from him to go on my Pro 11 D12 - vertical knee lever kit, a number of pullers (bellcranks) and teardrop levers. The quality of the parts are simply amazing. Every puller has been chrome plated, along with all cross rods and connectors. All brackets are truly exact and alloy parts are polished to a mirror finish. Beautiful.
Well done Coop!!

I agree with everyone. Ricky Davis is finishng up my Sho-Bud Professional with some of John's awesome parts. Here's what the under carriage looks like with a new pulling system. John's parts and Ricky Davis's tender lovin care make a good team.

John Coop you come up with great ideas, he did my pro III double 10 sho-Bud with the new super fingers and that guitar plays great, excellent instrument after it was Cooped up by John Coop. |

The photos show that you must cut away part of the wooden body to make room for the new changer. If you want to use raise-helper springs, you would have to cut away more than was cut away in that picture. |

A wedge-shaped piece of wood was removed, just next to the changer. You can see that the newly cut (or more likely, filed) wood is a different color under one end of the one raise-assist spring. If you want to use raise-assist springs, you would have to file away a lot more than that. |

Gee..I must have missed something here because after that pic was taken, I put the strings on it which pulled the fingers back to there normal "nested" position, tuned it up, and it performs "flawlessly". You would think that after 32 years of working on these Sho~Buds I would have learned something! Coop |

I spoke w/ Coop last Thursday and my parts are ready for a total rebuild. I gutted it tonight and will ship it off to him, (as he prefers to install the changers himself)..... Then he'll ship back the guitar with the installed changers and a package with the new Coop undercarriage parts so I can reassemble it.
I left the pedal and knee lever brackets on to help me re-navigate the pedal and knee lever placements......Man, I'm psyched!

Coop and Bobbe Seymour both do astonishing refurbs of ShoBuds.
There are so many 'Buds out in the public domain that need a good set-up and replacement of worn parts that it could be a small industry in itself. |
