I recall starting to listen to country music at the age of 10 in 1953. My maternal grandmother gave me her old A M radio. I listened to several southern radio stations at night from S.W. Minnesota.
I listened to XERF in Del Rio, Texas, WBAP in Fort Worth, Texas, KOMA in Oklahoma City. I listened to a station in Little Rock, but can't remember the call letters of the station.
Hank Williams music was being played quite a bit in those days, after he passed away.

Music

I started taking steel guitar lessons in 1951, thats when country music was COUNTRY. This crap they are trying to shove down our throats now and call it country is a disgrace to any one calling themselves country. I asked a renoun steel man a couple of years ago what he thought about todays '"COUNTRY" and he said it wasnt even near country it was just BAD ROCK & ROLL. Any way you go you just can't beat good ole traditional COUNTRY MUSIC>>>>.
