Couple of clips on YouTube

Post by Mike Bagwell »

Here's a clip of a show I did with a local band called Seconds Flat. The guitarist/singer's wife recorded it. I'm at a loss to explain why I'm so loud :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjGkxbLmcug

Mike I didn't think that was too loud at all. On the contrary, my feeling it was just right.

It was a nice relief when the guitar player/singer finally let you have a take. You played some great rides on there Mike. In fact, everything you played sounded like it was second nature to you. Great job!

Very nice Mike. That was some good solid steel in all the right places. Your tone sounds great too. :D

Thanks guys, I was just sitting in and was being careful not to over play.
I'm playing a short keyhead Legrande with a counterforce unit, The amp is a Sho Bud Christmas tree with a Black Widow speaker.

Here's another video,

WARNING
there's some profanity right after the end of the song.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_co4podknAY

There ain't nothing wrong with that and I like the "different kind of flower" lick you threw in near the first of the song.

OK, you got to fill us in on the bald headed guy with no shoes on.

Dick,

Thanks, you'll never go wrong quoting Buddy. I think I learned that lick 30 years ago.

That's Scott Allen, he's a fine singer,songwriter and photographer. Like many artist's he's got some quirks :)

I had an idea that lick might've been one of BE's but wasn't sure. :)

Now Bobby, Don't tell him that. We already say he looks like Bobbye Seymour, so don't make Mike's head grow even more. hehe

Mike, That is excellent playing. I believe you pick some with a good friend of mine, Dickie Brown from Spartanburg. Winston May

Winston,

Yeah, I've had the honor to play with Dickie many times over the years. I went to Frankfort with him and stayed a few days, I remember playing a festival at a covered bridge. There was another player there with a Derby guitar. Was that you ?

BB,

I was totally impressed by the skills of Handlebar lighting crew. Word is, Buddy Rocket has them on speed dial.

Bill,

Last time I played Atlanta I stunk it up big time, guess I'm still healing. Thanks for the offer.

Oh yeah, the Seymour thing.
Seymour and I may have a thing or two in common relative too you. Its obvious to everyone but you.

David,

Thank you for listening, the guitar player Larry Hoskinson wrote both songs. He's also an excellent Jazz player.

Mike, you know that I've seen you and Bobbe side-by-side. Both of you'uns could use a beauty consultant.
Playin' is gruesome, bro. Thanks for posting it!
Now, if we can get some video of BB's playing, the world would know that two of the finest steel players around, are right here in South Carolina!

Mike Bagwell's Playing

Post by thurlon hopper »

Last and only time i ever had the privilege and pleasure of hearing Mike play, was in Saluda in 2004. Been back a few times but never saw or heard again. He stole the show that day. And at that time, he was playing his '66 P/P througha Peavey LTD. Tone and touch truly outstanding. TJH
