Bill, THANKS! Where do they come from? I thought all the great pickers were right here on the forum, and up pops one more out of nowhere. He plays with great feeling and sensitivity.

Does anybody know Mr. Arnett Mills?

Arnett Mills (Great Steel Player from Danville, Va)

Post by Ken Latchum »

Hello Friends:
My name is Ken Latchum and Arnett is my very close friend. Arnett is a great musician and a fantastic steelguitarist. He plays with such feeling and emotion.

I am the one putting Arnett on the U-tube as Arnett is a better Steelplayer than he is a videographer and computer expert. I knew that everyone would love to hear Arnett play his Wonderful Marlen Guitar he loves on U-tube as everyone loves to hear Arnett perform at our MASGA Jams and Shows. Arnett uses many forms of back up music and I will try to help all that I can.

Arnett loves and did love John Hughey music. He uses his tracks as one source. Arnett has many back up tracks he has accumualated over the years. He also uses Joe Turner's Tracks from Star South Carlinia. He uses most all the time now his Band-in-a-Box program with his lap top computer. Everything is downloaded into his computer and he just punches buttons and plays his thousands of songs with the computer back up. Computer is the way to go once you have all your songs downloaded or uploaded.

I would be glad to answer any questions and my e-mail address is kalatchum@comcast.net

Regards

Ken Latchum

Arnett Mills; Steel Guitarist Extraordinare

:whoa: :P
Ken; Many thanks to you for videoing our new found steel guitar buddy; what a treat hearing this fine gent perform on that Marlin guitar, in such an exquisite fashion. No wonder, Bill Sutton that you are doing so well on the steel; after hearing that you know Arnett very well. Certainly he would be a great teacher; his style of playing is surely so smooth and refined. Even those slants we see him using were expertise, in action. Arnett, don't stay hidden; we will look forward to your new postings on U-Tube..Bernie  :whoa: :D

Here is Arnett at work at our latest MASGA show at Kannapolis, North Carolina this past January. A smother player would be hard to find. We are truly grateful that Arnett is a very active member!!

Contact me via email and I will forward you Joe's address! He has a good selection of tracks where he does all of the instruments (no Band-in-the-box).

AQrnett And The Beautiful Marlen

Post by Bernie Gonyea »

:D
Greg; thanks for posting arnett's pic playing his lovely black Marlen; How old would you say his guitar is; I am aware that Leonard Stadler has gone onto the Pearley Gates; but are the Marlen Guitars still being built? I purchased a D-10 Speedy West Marlen from Leonard back in the mid 80's, I believe, it was. The guitar was an all natural wood-grain finish; Bought while on a trip to Nashville at a store operated by Little Roy Wiggins. I see one being played on a LIVE RADIO Broadcast from Little Roy's Store; Loved the looks and sound of this new Marlen.. Ordered it directly from Leonard Stadler, right there on the spot. Played this Speedy West Guitar for well over 20 years. Arnett brings back many memories, as I listen to him play that grand guitar..Bernie :D  :whoa:
