I'll be playing at the Best Western (Presque Isle exit) in Erie P.A. for the next four days if anyone is passing through. It s right off the Presque Isle exit of the NYS Thruway.

Hi Kevin- I played at the Press Club in Erie, Pa, (piano, bass drums, and me on non pedal D8 and guitar) back in 1942 , just before I went in the army.

Is it still there?.......al

The only Presque Isle I ever heard of before is a small town in northern Maine where I lived when I was young. Any idea of what that name means and/or why the use of the name?

Al, its remarkable to me that you were playing professional that long ago. I would have loved to hear you play. I am sure that you have many great stories to tell. I don't know if that place is still there but I will find out this weekend. I don't know where the name Presque Isle came from.

Jim.
About 1972 I thought I'd get into trucking and wind up with a fleet of trucks etc. etc. I used to go up to Houlton where the dispatchers would get us a load of spuds.
I went to Presque Isle many times. And Houlton,Fort Kent, Prince Edward Island. Of course this always had to be in the winter!!!
It was'nt too long before I got rid of the truck, and grabbed my Guitar, and went back to working with Peewee Gokey at the Ranch!!

There is a Presque Isle County in Lower Northern Michigan.

I think Posen And Rogers city is in that county. Anyway they grow a lot of potatoes in Posen and have a festival every year there.....al

A Yahoo search reveals that there's also a Presque Isle in Wisconsin. Presque Isle, Maine is right in the heart of potato country too, maybe that's a clue?!?
