Happy Easter... Christian Country

Post by Steve Stallings »

Howdy!
I'm just finishing up a wonderful Easter afternoon. It's a really pretty day here in the big town of "Bremond, Texas." I've put up a song that is something that I have been working on for several months off and on. It's quite long as songs go, but I really couldn't find a way to shorten it. I wanted to convey a picture and it took a bit extra "paint" to do it.
I was driving back home from Dallas and passed a little church on Hwy 14. The little message box outside said "Maybe we should spend more time counting the blessings we do have, and less worried about what we don't have." This really is true, and I am as guilty as anyone. I hope that this song will give you a moment of thought as well as joy. The song is titled "Blessings We Dont' Have".
God Bless,

Easter 2008

"Blessings We Don't Have"

Little girl just three years old Got mommas eyes
If truth be told She looks a lot like daddy when she turns just so.
If happiness was made of gold I'd have a pile to the sky
I'm so..
Lucky when I count the blessings I don't have
Sometimes I just wonder how it came to be
A man so rich in love yet its plain for all to see

Chorus:
I'm not blessed with wealth and fame
Not blessed with looks but just the same
I'm not blessed with ugly if you know what I mean
I'm not blessed with a big ol' house
Fancy cars big bank account
I'm not blessed with nothing that I don't need
Yeah I'm not blessed and a bluebird doesn't sing

Well he's just five and he looks like me
We ride the tractor and we watch tv
His favorite show is fishing time with Earl
He likes the "stro's" and he loves his "boys"
Yells gig em aggs Yeah he's got good choice
He's a charmer yeah ya know just what I mean
Yeah unblessed is a funny thing ya see
Cause from where I sit, I've got everything I need.

Their momma turns and smiles at me
Lights up the room I just can't believe
There's no love any stronger on this world
She laughs and says now can't you see
What we don't have we just don't need
All that matters is love and a big ol' heart
You know I just wonder how it is
How a love like this can manage to exist

He's so old yeah and I believe
He's been right there a rock for me
His love is endless and will always be
He gave his Son for you and me

You know... sometimes I admit
I don't pretend to understand
So I just count His blessings
Not the ones that we don't have

God Bless Your Day
