Here's some shots of a six string lap steel I got about 6 or 7 years ago. I'd forgotten I had it until I was cleaning out a cabinet in my garage. It was given to me by a friend who'd worked in a music store for a long time and had taken it in trade for a dollar amount which he didn't remember.
Anyway, it has a Fender logo on the front but it's by no means a Fender. It appears to be home made and actually sounds pretty good and is totally playable. It currently has an open E tuning on it and the pickup has adjustable poles but they don't quite match up with the string spacing.
The volume and tone controls work great with no noise and the input jack is on the bottom of the guitar. The legs are metal screw in like go on a table of some sort.
The case is covered with a nice Tolex type material and the interior of the case with crushed velvet type material so I guess a good bit of work was done to make the whole package.
I'm thinking of taking it to a gig now and then just for some variation in sound from my pedal steel and guitar.
Has anyone from around the Virginia/North Carolina area ever seen this "thing" or know who might have made it?............JH in Va.

I'm no Fender expert by any means, but I will stick my neck out enough to say it's no fender.
The control plate and fretboard appear to be typical Valco. The control knobs look like Gibson from the late 60s.
It's really pretty cool though.
I like the shape of the body.
It would be cool to mount a Supro pickup on that plate. |

The knobs look like they're from a Fender amp, so maybe that makes it a Fender. |

Any ideas on what might be a good pickup to change out with what's in it now? I don't think I'd want to spend a fortune but I'd like to have something that lined up with the strings better, maybe even a blade type or something like that......JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Jerry Wallace can make you one if you measure the string separation and the hole. |
