My Latest YouTube Video
Here is my latest (third) video for YouTube. It is a tune called Steel Heaven. I think I used almost all the frets on this one. There is one wiggle in it but I ran out of time to attempt to correct it.

blocking
I have listened to you on that beautiful steel you have.
No sense in avoiding the issue.Blocking.You are a very good musician. No getting around that. The feeling you sqeeze out of that song is really nice.
If you ever watched yourself on you tube, look at your right hand.Looks like a claw.
Jeff Newman seemed to enjoy slapping that claw looking grip.
Reason. Well you are not blocking. The sound is running together when you play. That is what happens when you hold your hand like that.Different methods of blocking will change the sound always. How you block is none of my business. But it will improve your sound like you won't believe.

Thank you Bill. One of the reasons I published my videos was to get some tips and pointers. Your comments are very well received. I appreciate your input. There are a few things I noticed that I need to work on in addition to blocking: bar movement (vertical as well as horizonal, watching bar placement instead of the right hand- a comment from my last video). I plan to put some effort into these before my next video. I had planned to do the current 3 videos as a benchmark. I now have some ideas on where to focus. Regards, Rich.

Blocking
I am so glad your not mad.I have had so many guys
that have stopped by for a pointer or two,and most don't have the music that flows out of you.
I had trouble blocking for a long time. One day it was just there. One easy way is to tuck your last two fingers in,tilt your hand to a 45,and leave a hole big enough for a golf ball.Turn a little to the left, with the hand.
As your hand will pick,it then raises the two that are tucked ,and when you go back down the back side of your hand does the blocking.
That is one way.Hope I explained it right .

Bill, you explained it very well. Just like Jeff Newman all over again...
That 'turn a little to the left with the hand' is new to me. I tried it as I was reading and...by turning the hand, it actually tightens up the tendons so that when you pick with a finger, the tightness actually raises the hand automatically.
