RIP
From his radio show and seeing him play at his club, he seemed like a really nice guy as well as an amazing musician.

To those of you who saw him at his club: was he as active on the stage as he was in the "Confidence Man" video?

Devastating loss to music, and his family.
DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Real happiness has no strings attached.
But pedal steels have many!

I've seen and met him several times. He played with a good friend of mine fairly regularly in his jazz group. Jeff moved from jazz to rock easily and yes he was a very active performer on stage often standing up playing overhand guitar against his stomach while jumping up and down grinning - quite a sight! Great guy, a big man but gentle. He just opened up a new club here in Toronto.

Gonna miss him.

This might surprise you: Jeff was also an excellent jazz cornet player.

Matt, when I saw him in his club he wasn't playing behind his head or anything. On the other hand, his playing was better than "Confidence Man". You know, stage 1: I can do that but he's playing it nicely; stage 2, why didn't I think of that; stage 3, jaw on the floor. On that scale, he was around stage 4 or 5. Just beautiful playing. & Blaine's right about the cornet.
