Topic: New "Standup" Lap Steel From Peavey |

OK, HP; OK, OK, OK you guys: Cut-a-ways for portly men might let you position the guitar closer to your body...but...if you're a well-endowed gal, how close is too close? Steels still need to be looked at, especially the high notes...gotta be able to see 'em.
Not many of us gals still picking away, but occasionally one comes out of the woodwork...Look at old photos: used to be lots of us, now only a few survivors and newbies. (sob)
If HP would like to investigate and promote a new profitable market, tell him to look at US! (Well, not at specifically at me, I'm a "has been".) - Del

I never thought of that ! If you're a well-endowed lady player maybe what you need is a long strip mirror at the back of the fingerboard so you can see the frets without incumbrence.   |

Is it a bird?..........is it a plane?........just kidding. The Power Slide is unique. Yep, this was totally HP's idea. It is certainly a "one of a kind" instrument in every way, ie; tone circuit, the ability to play it bottleneck style, lap style, sit down, stand up, etc., etc., and our projections are to price it around the $200.00-$250.00 price range.
The reason for the six string version is to get six string electric guitar players to "make the leap" without breaking the bank. Peavey has designed and manufactured instruments and amplifiers for the working musician. Sure, a company could invest thousands into this project, but "Rome wasn't built in a day", so to speak. The wise business move would be to offer "something different, different than in the past and something with new ideas". I've mentioned this in postings here on the forum many times. Why do something that has already been done before? In my opinion, that is much of what has been done at steel shows for the past 20 years. Nothing wrong with that. As a matter of fact, it has kept the instrument alive. But, let's do something new. You have to admit, the main reason that we go to the steel shows is to hear and see what has been popular for the past 50 years and when something new is played or seen at a convention, it is noticed.
Please don't take this wrong. I admire every one of the legendary steel players that we have all come to know. They are real and I think that this is what appeals to "our" close knit group of musicians. For what it is worth, I state "our close knit group" as I feel a part of it too, having learned to play pedal steel from the late, great Jeff Newman, an amazing man.
Back to the Power Slide guitar, I invite each and every one of you to stop by the Peavey Demo Booth at the upcoming Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree to get a feel of this instrument. Peavey Electronics has designed and manufactured steel guitar amplifiers since 1974 and we have been in the musical instrument business since 1965 and supplied the backline and sound system for the St. Louis Convention since day one.
The TSGJ begins on Thursday. See you there.

I wish I could be there to check it out, but I'm staying here in California for the time being. I look forward to any reports our forum members have of their experiences with the Peavey Power Slide.

The original target date I thought I recall hearing was that these would be ready for the marketplace sometime in April.
We're past mid-April now - any new information?
