I’m considering flying to Austin for a couple days of SXSW and then up to Dallas for the Jamboree. I have a couple friends playing at SXSW, otherwise I have no interest in the indie scene and just want to hear country music. Does SXSW pretty much pre-empt the country gigs?

Thanks,
Drew

I can't answer your question, but I think I'm going to be there on March 15/16 (with an indie band). Let me know when you're going to be around. Maybe you can show me where the good music is!

Drew I went to SXSW two years ago, with 1,300 bands there, you can always find great country music. They offer pretty much everything. The music schedule is not out yet but I think it's worth going. I can't this year, but hopefully next year.

Good luck, Craig

I'll be there playing with my band Charliehorse at Freddies on Friday the 14th from noon-2 and another project(Sarah Hughes) at Botticelli's sat afternoon.Come have a great burger and check us out. Other great shows will be The Mother Truckers thursday night at the Continental and the Twangfest showcase at Jovitas on Saterday. Last year I saw Tracy Lawrence with 50 other people at Jovitas. More great music than you'll have time to see. Got to get to the shows you want to see early because most sets are only 45 min.
