Good call Dick. I forgot about the Trail Dust. They have been around a long time and are probably a little more inexpensive than the others I listed. The Grapevine Trail Dust is out of business now I think. It's a Love and War in Texas now I THINK. Have been to a Love and War though and it was a decent steak.

All those Dallas locations are too far away, especially for a visitor unfamiliar with the area. There are closer alternatives:
Tell you what, David. If we can coordinate a time (I'll be working at the Jamboree) when we're both available, I'll drive you and Keith to one of these restaurants. Contact me via e-mail and we'll work out the details.
- Saltgrass Steak House and Bob's Steak & Chop House are both on Main Street in Grapevine.
- The Silver Fox is one exit down at William D. Tate Ave.
- Kirby's Steakhouse (no web site) is yet another exit down at Wall Street and 114.
- Texas Land & Cattle Co. is a little farther away, at the junction of 121 & 183.
- There is a Truluck's at Southlake Town Square, but they focus more on seafood. Steak is reportedly good, though.

you gotta go to Ranchman's in Ponder.
There are plenty of high end steakhouses in the DFW area, but if you want an authentic North Texas Steak experience the Ranchman's Cafe in Ponder is the ONLY place to go. Their pies are stellar also. If you go on a Fri. or Sat night you'll get to hear my old friend George Merritt wandering around the place taking requests (I used to sub in for him occasionally). I see they have a website now, call & ask for directions if you need 'em, you'll find they are very friendly. It's not any farther from the convention area than going to Dallas or Fort Worth, and the traffic will be a darn sight better! http://www.ranchman.com
