There's a group of us from the Florida Steel Guitar Club that are planning on going Sunday. We can't make it Saturday due to picking jobs.

Bob, Ollie is due in here next week. He always comes by our Tuesday Catfish Johnny jam and I get to pick with him.

Hello Jack,

Good to hear from you! I am looking forward to seeing you guys.

Please say hi to Ollie. He sat in with us last year. I am so glad that he and his wife Rae can make it this year. He is one of my favourite players. See you in Lakeland.

I'll put my heart into this show for you guys, and the semiar also. This could be my last show.
What better place than FL.
I'll be there to answer any questions and I'll have many steel items that you have never seen at shows before. Parts, teaching materials, the famous Sho-Bud T-shirts, CDs etc.
Come on out, I'll do my best for you all.

No more live shows in my future, this one is it. I'd possibly do some special things, like benifits for fund raisers for players, animals, HOF, and the such.
So I'll "let it all hang out" on this one. In the seminar I'll even let out the Emmons "secret" to tone and sustain, along with some other hard won facts on steel guitars over the years. Open floor for discussions and learning.

Just so happens my son, Ken, lives in Lakeland and is going to provide room and board for me so I can fly down to be with everyone and help Bobbe "team teach" the seminar. I've been practicing like "crazy" ever since Bobbe's show in Ashtabula OH last July 15th for Don Burrows. My daughter, Sherri, was born in Ashtabula in 1949 while I was steelin' with the Missouri Fox Hunters, before I went to KMA radio in Shenandoah IA, to play with Ike Everly and the staff band there in March of 1950! A while back Bobbe mentioned me in his news letter. As long as he's letting his "secrets" out, I'll let you in on some of mine??!! I rebuilt my triple 8 Epiphone and after I bought my first pedal steel (?) a 6 string 4 pedal MultiKord (not a pedal steel as we know them today!?) I gave the triple neck to Bobbe, so he tells me it's all my fault that he's into steels the way he has always been! Look at Ken's site on the net at rodworx.com Also do a search for
doug seymour or the Sunset Ramblers the first radio/show band I joined after graduation in 1947!

Ollie Strong, one of the Canadian Steelers scheduled is here in Florida. I got to jam with Ollie today.

Ollie is a great addition to the show. For those that don't know, Ollie worked with Tommy Hunter for about 12 years and was on the early TV shows with Tommy. I was told Ollie had the first Sho-Bud that was imported into Canada (he plays a Fulawka today). Ollie was the steeler that demonstrated the steel guitar on the "How it's made" TV show segment on Pedal steel guitars (Fulawka). I was told the short demo that Ollie did is available on YouTube.

I'll still be on Tour with George Hamilton IV and sadly won't be able to make the show so I can heckle Bobbe Laughing

I will be in charge of producing a new brand of steel guitar in the near future, this with everything else will stop my galivanting around the country side. The market is needing this type and style of guitar and I'm getting after it.

Hey Bobbe

Looks like your uncle will be there and its close enough that my uncle Charlie Coldiron (my favorite steel player) might be there too. You'll have to deal with the uncle's yourself this time. Sure wish I could be there especially with Hartley comming. Enjoyed working with you at the BSG show last summer.
