Emmons/Rotterdam/1978
My dear friend and excellent steelplayer Koos Biel pointed me to these two clips from a show that was recorded in Rotterdam in 1978. It first went to Wembley, London, England and there were many top-rate country-artists participating backed-up by a top band.
Buddy Emmons played steel (Reggie Young on guitar)
Buddy had his own solo part in this show.
Afterwards we went with Buddy to his hotelroom and I remember I was so nervous in his presence that I felt only comfortable discussing foto-equipment with him (he was very into that on that moment)
Enjoy

Hi Bas,
I was there too and wondering who the steeler with the beard was until I heard him playing.
Buddy did an encore and I had the idea a few of the members of the band did not come back.
Members of the next band helped him out but I can't recall which band that was.
I believe Buddy had his own time the following year.
Do you or anybody else have this show on video or DVD.
I would love to have a copy.
Thanks for posting this,
Ted

Wow! I just don't believe it! I was there too! I was with the 32TFS in Utrecht (Camp New Ampsterdam). We lived in Amersfort. A whole bus load of us went up and attended the show. As I remember it was about an 8 hour show. Buddy was playing for Tom Paul Glaser. I have some pictures of that show somewhere. What a great day it was for us. I also remember a band that used to play at the club on base. I couldn't tell you the name of the band or the steel player but I do remember he was really good. I tried to talk to him once but he didn't speak english. Strangly enough though he did sing backup on a couple of songs (in english). Seems like a lifetime ago. Thanks for the memories.
