Dallas; Here Comes Mickey

Post by Bernie Gonyea »

:D

Great going, Mickey; I take it you like these big Air Ports. Do you fly your own air craft, Mickey?Yes, I'm certain you'll meet many new Steel Pickers there in the Lone-star state and you will be close-by to take in the Big Dallas Show in March. They will have you up there to teach all the PROS how to play their instruments. Now, that's a challenge and a half.. But Good Luck, Mickey with this new endeavor in your life. Bernie :D

Well well, congradulations Mickey. You're going to love it in Texas. We just had the honor of having Buzz Evans moving from Las Vegas to Austin to help keep Austin weird and then Johnny Cox and Joan and now this. Hope to see you in March at the Dallas show. Keep the rubber side down :-) Don.

Big Steel Daddy (David), I have a question. If you like Texas so much why are you still Modesto? Ain't no music there and ain't gonna be anytime soon. Are you going to be in Texas when I get there? I sure hope so, I miss ya.

Mickey, I'm suprised you haven't told me this yet...this is awesome! I think you'd enjoy Dallas much more than Vegas. You'll have so many opportunities to play guitar and pedal steel, you'll think you died and went to heaven. I really hope it pans out for you. Let me know ASAP because this will affect our plans for the Dallas show. We'll be there, but you may not need a room; maybe I won't either, HA!

Give me a call, or I'll touch base early this week. BTW, I'll be in LA from 2/24-2/29. Let me know your flight schedule.

Some band is going to get one fine musician in Dallas. Can't wait to see who you hook up with Mickey! :D

Mickey I'm glad to hear your moving out our way, there are so many great steel players and so many great folks that love steel in these parts, as most of ya'll can see during the Annual Texas Steel Conference every year. Texas kind of grows on you. This State can't have enough great steel players and Mickey will be a great addition to our craft. I look forward to meeting you and hearing you play.

Keep us posted after you get settled in and let us know where you will be playing.

Mickey, Sounds like an adventure. Drop by Ricky Davis' and check out my Sho-Bud Professional that he's workin his magic on with some awesome John Coop parts. If you and Ricky lay your hands on it maybe it'll play itself when I get it back? :)

Gary: Yes, I know you are only about 20 to 25 miles from me; send me an E Mail and we'll make an effort to get together some time soon; O.K?
Will some kind forumite tell us the exact dates of the Dallas Show; I know it's early in March; I'd love to attend the show also, but will not fly commercially. If I started out on foot tomorrow; could I make it by the Narch Date? I'm looking into the possibility of "AMTRAK. Think I could tolerate such a ride. Will let you know what I find out, Gary. I have a daughter living in Sherman, Tx. [ An hour and a half north-east of Dallas.] I surely would love to take this show in.. Time will tell..Bernie :D

Mickey, welcome to Texas! As you're a pilot, it shouldn't be that much of a difference for you- we'll still all look like ants, it's just we gotta really big ant bed.

Mickey; I apologize for using your post for some of my personal business, in reference to another forumite. I know you will love Dallas and the State of Texas. Notice in my note to Gary that my eldest girl lives in Sherman Tx. Her hubby also works for the V.A. right there in Dallas. He's not a country musician but a regular guy, swell enough to take me up to Branson two years ago so we could take in a couple of C/W Shows.Met a great steel player by the handle of Roger Blevins, whom works with the "Baldnoggers". Has done so for 32 years. That's what you call hanging onto a sure thing.. Enjoy your move, Mickey..Bernie :D

All I can say is, Mickey has to be one of the nicest guys I have met in a long long time! I still am in awe of the way he shares his talent with others. As far as him moving, :) I say yeaahhhh! Texas is a great state cause my wife is from there. The thing I am thinking, Texas is closer to Tennessee and I might get the chance to meet Mickey now! God bless you on your adventure Mickey...
