Post by Jerry Mason »

Does anyone know of any steel shows scheduled in Florida during January or February 2008? Would like to work one in while on vacation this spring.

Heywood Henson and the Shriners have had a show in Lakeland late January - it's always been a good one! :)

Jimmy Powell puts on a show in Blounstown, FL. every February. I've been twice and it is an awesome little show. The venue is terrific!

Our Florida Steel Guitar Club has a jam the 2nd Wednesday of each month in Lake Panasoffkee. It's not a "show" but we usually have 12 to 15 Steels at the jam - everything from Dobro to Pedal Steel. The January jam will be Jan 9 at 5:30 PM. The February jam will be Wednesday, Feb 13 at 5:30 PM. Jams are at Catfish Johnny's Restaurant in Lake Panasoffkee (3 miles west of I75 exit 321).

If you are staying at one of the RV parks in west central Florida, let me know where you are at as I'll be doing the "RV Park Tour" with George Hamilton IV in January and Tommy Cash in February. We will be at parks from Leesburg to Davenport to Punta Gorda.

The Florida Steel Guitar Jam in Lakeland will be held January 26 & 27, 2008.
It will be held at Quality Inn & Suites located at Socrum Loop & Hwy. 33 at I-4.
I will be sharing the stage with Bobbe Seymour, Joe Wright and fellow Canadian, Ollie Strong along with other guests.

Lakeland show should be a good one. I'm less than 5 miles from there. I'll most likely be there. It should also be loads of fun with both Bobbe Seymour and Joe Wright BOTH there at the same time.

Thanks guys for the response. The Lakeland show sounds like a possibility since we will be visiting friends in the Zepher Hills area which is real close to where we would be staying.

Jerry, it's "Zephyrhills" :D

Or as the locals refer to it "Z-Hills".

Lake Panasoffkee is about 30 minutes from Zephyrhills if you are here during the time our jams are scheduled.

I do a weekly Tuesday afternoon show at Catfish Johnny's and we get a lot of people from Zephyrhills that attend the show.
