Cool!

Great groove and feel from Arlen ... and no picks. You don't usually see him play lap style. He seems to have a right thumb made out of rubber. That's a Terraplane reso, built by Mark Simon and co-designed by Roth.

Arlen certainly is an incredible player. That instrument is unbelievable. Lovely vintage sound, and he plays without picks like me! WOOHOO!

The guitar is actually called the "44 SPECIALl." It's made of brass and has what look like 44 bullet shells in the sound ports! According to the web site, these can be raised or lowered to control the sound coming out of 'em. No ordering or price info on the site.

I've played that guitar a few times and it is very interesting. You spin these little dials to close up the sound ports to make the guitar more suitable for electric playing. It's a very nicely made instrument with nice tone and an extremely high price tag. You can a ton of bass out of that thing with amplification. Sonny Landreth has one, too.
