I always hear about such and such guitars having triple raise, double lower. double raise, single raise and so on.

Would some like to explain all that and what that has to do with potential aquisitions? It's a question I've never fully understood.

Your A pedal raises your 5th string. Your C pedal raises your 5th string. I have described a double raise. You have the ability to attach two pedals (or levers) to the raise finger of the 5th string. Common modern steels can accomodate a third raise. Triple raise. Same thinking on the lowers. Double lower is minimum standard. Triple lower is common.
You can quickly ascertain the specs of a guitar by counting the holes in the fingers at the endplate.

This is a double/double.

Each string can be raised and lowered by two different pedals or levers.

Simple question? You didn't know, you asked, now you know and hopefully someone else will find this in the archive and learn. That's the way it should go. Glad it helped.

RC,
Go to this link, they show a changer out of the guitar, you can get a good look at a 3&3 changer.

Is this a great forum,or what? BF

In terms of potential acquisitions, it depends on how many changes you want to be able to make. A very standard traditional 10-string neck on a 3-pedal/4 lever pedal steel can get by with a 2-raise/single-lower changer. If you want to get fancy with more pedals and levers, you will probably need more. A 12-string universal will need more.
