I've been listening to some artists lately with Randy Reinhard doing the steel and I am blown away. Kind of hard to describe, but his playing goes to my bones kind of like how BE's playing has done to me for 30 years. Is he a forum member? Whats his history? Does he give any instruction, either courses or video? Does he have a website? Wow, what style and tone!! Jim |

Randy Reinhard plays with the Bobby Flores Band.
Do a search on the forum here and you will see many
folks sing the praise of Randy as a master of the steel.
I think he drives a space ship and comes from area 51.
He is very talented. _________________ Gordon Borland

I met Dottie Jack at the ISGC and we swapped CDs.
Her CD Texan In a Stetson is top's. This was the first time I had heard Randy. I am blown away with his tone. Bobby produced this CD. Her New husband plays drums on it also it has Lynn Owsley and Ralph Mooney. _________________ Custom Rittenberry SD10

Randy is also a fantastic piano player and can be heard on many recordings playing piano. One such recording that comes to mind is "Johnny Bush Live". I haven't seen Randy in a long time but hope we can get together sometime soon. And yes he is a great guy. Bobby |

I've heard,,or the story goes,,that MANY years ago (maybe 20 or more),,at ISGC,,Randy sat across from BE and swapped lick for lick,,,chop for chop??? That takes a lot of guts,,and talent to match. Can't vouch for truthfulness,,maybe someone here was there and can elaborate. I do know he plays piano/keyboard just as skillfully as he plays PSG,,,and that he was married to Barbara Fairchild for a while,,,and,,like Gordon says,,he has more talent than most normal humans,,, |

a few weeks ago we had a gig WAY out in the sticks near possum kingdom lake, Tx. we got a message that Randy had some car trouble and was gonna be late. we had his rig in the band trailer so i set up his steel and Jim Loessberg, normally our drummer (also a world class steel player) was ready to cover for him while the band played a little "musical chairs", all switching to other instruments. Randy shows up in the nick of time, he tells me his heater was broken in his car and the poor guy was absolutely frozen to the bone, almost hypothermic! (did i mention it was freezing cold that night with winter storm advisory?) with no more time to waste we launch into our first tune, which happens to be the fastest number we play all night and Randy, after driving 8 hours in 35 degree rainy weather with no heat (no gloves either!), sits immediately at the steel , still with his coat on, and proceeds to reel off a bunch of that crazy bebop stuff that he plays so effortlessly as if he'd warmed up for 2 hours. he didn't even have time to tune and he was already blowing doors! the guy never ceases to amaze me. he checks the forum every once in a while when he's near a computer box. |

Thanks for the tidbits about Randy. I agree that he must drive a spaceship and be from area 51. His perfection in delivery is other-worldy. Jim |

I've personally seen Randy at the Den in Nashville with Buddy, and if you closed your eyes, you would not be able to tell who was who in doing Buddy's thing. |

Besides his work with Bobby Flores and Leaghan Cortes,I wonder with whom Randy played before he got famous to us with Bobby Flores.
And if there are much more recordings with Randy, old and new... |
