Okay, let's get down to brass tacks...........

Post by Ray Montee »

We all seem to know at least one instance when some good looking chick ran off with the drummer or fiddle player....

Some of us even enjoyed the wild, imaginative flirting sessions from the bandstand to a distant table off in the dark corner of the club.

We know of those who have ruined their music career by going down that merciless road to alcohol and/or drugs.

But let's get down to the nitty gritty. Has your playing ever been affected by a pretty face in the crowd? Did one of those fabulous vixons ever place you and your marriage in jeopardy? Did one of those bandstand encounters ever throw you into a divorce?
How many marriages have YOU had?

This could be interesting or could be boring. Let's see.........

Well now..................

Post by Ray Montee »

Well Jim, now that you've asked.........

Some of these guys here on the Forum of late, have been bragging about how many g'tars they've got, how many strings they have to have, what tunings they can pick a song or two in, etc.

I just tho't we might get down and become a little more basic and IN TUNE with each other; sorta like BONDING?

Hope I didn't offend.............

a pretty good thread. if the playing and bars didn't get ya, well this thread surely will. Espeically if your wife also plays and/or reads this forum. I hope not!

by the way I am from across the river from you. I am from Vancouver, Wa and my family is still there accept me and my kids. For health and work related reason I moved back to New York City 18 years ago. I really miss the Northwest as I am or was an advid fisherman and hunter and loved fishing for steelhead and the great salmon. I've been all over the united states and there is nothing like the northwest accept more and more californians are moving up there and well I will stop there.

One day I will be back and those steelhead and salmon better be ready if there is any left!

Ok,don't laugh

Wife #1 6 months
#2 1.5 yrs
#3 4 yrs
#4 5 yrs
#5 8 yrs and all's well

I had one steel that lasted almost as long as all my marriages combined.

Haven't you guys figured out yet that the B@#jo players get all the hot chicks? Although Deliverance played havoc with our image.

Yes, b^xj0 players get all the chicks. They're a special breed... or maybe the word is "inbreed" ;-)

Post by Eddie Cunningham »

Ray , You have to spend more time with that "Volu-Tone" and less time day-dreaming !! You're putting all us steelers on thin ice !! If the wives read all about the "good old wild days" we'll all be working on # 5 or 6 !! Eddie "C" ( the old geezer with a bad memory )

Surely, there's more of you out there?

Post by Ray Montee »

I can't beleive that there aren't more of you out there!

Guys boast about drug and alcohol rehab, unable to install finger picks after 2/3 years, speeding tickets, how many fish they caught, etc., etc.

Now, we're talking about what has been man's favorite subject for decades.....and all of a sudden, 'silence'.

Did I hit a raw spot?

How 'bout that!

Post by Ray Montee »

NEVER a dull moment around you guys........that's what makes the FORUM such a daily challenge and fun place to visit with frequency.

Now Jim, do you prefer "Sam Adams"? or one of the more basic brews? Let's talk about this.....

Great pix and so appropriate. Do you have an entire file of this kinda photo's?

Come on guys loosen up. You don't just play steel gutiar for the BIG Bucks!

A steel palyer I knew was playing one night when a man came up to the stage, pulled a gun, shouted you have been messing with my wife, and shot him dead. He was filling in that night for the intended target. It definatly effected his playing.

I would be more concerned to have my wife in the audience. It would throw me right off. And you know that for the next 20 years she would be telling me how badly I played, how I made a fool of myself, how my socks didn't match, how the rest of the band was ashamed of me, how I had a stupid look on my face, how I drank too much, how I looked so smug up there, how old I was looking nowadays, etc. etc. etc. etc.

...my wife gave me the best year of my life.. it was 1977. We were married in January 1978. :(
