| Yes, it was me that mispelled the word "Byrd" on the Sneaky Pete Plaque. I have sent the plaque back to the foundry to have them replace the one letter. I agree that the plaque should be as perfect as we can get it. Even my plaque has a flaw in it. My birthdate shows 1931 and I was born in 1932. Scotty |

| Ok but can they fix one letter so that it doesn't show at all that it has been 'fixed'? Wouldn't "as perfect as you can get" be more assuredly achieved by redoing the whole thing all as one? p.s. Before these several threads I had never heard of 'Sneaky Pete' (should I have?) and I admit i haven't seen these plaques either so i'm unaware of their general appearance to comment on. HI MOM!! |

If you know about the fixed letter on Byrd's plaque and you stare hard at it, you can see that the letter in question is a very tiny bit bigger than the others, but you really have to be looking for it to notice.

Hi Scotty,
We've never met but I want you to know how much I appreciate everything you've done for the steel guitar. Sneaky would have had a good laugh over this and would have thanked you from the bottom of his heart.

I've never met you, but you sure done a lot to help me learn what little I think I know about this steel guitar!

Scotty is every steel guitarist's best friend. He has dedicated his life not just to the instrument, but to it's players. Aside for the convention and the hall of fame, and his now defunct record company and magazine, he has personally helped many players personally and financially.
As everybody knows, our fellow steel guitarist Al Petty is in prison, where he is not allowed to have a pedal steel guitar. The prison authorities decided to allow him a Dobro. Few people know that Scotty bought and gave him one.
There is a reason why he he is the most beloved figure on our community. About 10 years ago he even
received a presidential citation from the Clinton white house.
If I could choose my parents, I'd pick him and Mary.

| Seriously, if you haven't heard Scotty play the frypan, you should do so if you get the chance. I heard him at the Steelin' For Hearts event in Alexandria, VA a few years ago. Also playing there (on D-10 pedal steels) were John Hughey, Buddy Charleton, Jimmie Crawford, Herby Wallace, Buck Reid, Gary Lee Gimble and Dean Black, and I felt Scotty played some of the best music that day, which is saying a heck of a lot! |

I think Sneaky's reaction to being inducted,
puts paid to any thoughts of one letter being incorrect.
He could have cared less.
Glad he got to hear of it before he passed on.
Anita I am sure there are many players like me,
who didn't know many of the other steeler greats,
until Sneaky brought us into that world.
He opened the door for many not raised in the classic country tradition,
to come to love and appreciate it's artists.
