Effects Processor - newbie

Just picked up a Boss SE-50. Want to get anyone's feedback as to reverb / delay settings to use. SE-50 has 128 presets which can be fine tuned.

Also, what is proper connection for effects processor? I'm connecting like this now:

Hilton (out) -- SE-50 (in mono)
SE-50 (out mono) -- NV400 (input 1)

Being new to effects processor, not sure if i should plug into pre-eq patch inputs or not.

The SE-50 has dual input / dual outputs which will allow me to use my Session 400 LTD too.
