I would highly recommend Dewitt Scott`s deluxe Pedal Steel Guitar ( Mel Bay) . Many songs to learn even with just Pedal A and/or B. Check this out and you should see tons of possibilities with the 3 and 1 set up you described.

the steel in question is a MSA Sidekick. it is a real God send due to big family & not alot of extras. i was wanting to explore new fontiers & i saw Robert Randolph on Austin City Limits & thought "i never heard steel that way." blew me away, plus grew up going to the roadeo & every year hearing a guy fill the open spots flawlessly so maybe i have just come back full circle now just wanting to enjoy life & maybe play out now & then(have to keep myself reined in or i'll day dream of main life changing things in music) oh i have really went off subject. i can get some pics soon & thanks so much for the response. Dion, I too have a 3-1 old Sho Bud. I have only been playing (PSG) for a couple of months but I think you get out of it what you put in it. I also have a Super Pro that has 5 knee levers on it but I know that I am not ready for that configuration. I am trying to learn as much as I can on the 3-1. Thanks to Mike Robbins in Paris, and Bobbe in Nashville who lets me pick his brain when I visit (Bobbe you still haven't come fishing), I am progressing without the other levers to deal with. It might require a little more work and creativity on my part (or my teachers)but when the light begins to click on some of this stuff (at 2:30 a.m.) you get a rush. Put in the practice time and you will be rewarded. Good luck!
