how much does mood effect your playing ?

i have noticed that if i'm in a good mood the steel seems to have a better sound. likewise if i'm in bad mood it will sound slightly out of tune ..is it just me or does this happen to anyone else?

Sure, my mood can affect my playing. But the effect is not always obvious. Sometimes I play much better when I'm mad as blazes, and other times I can barely get out of my own way. Similarly, sometimes a good mood helps, and other times I just get complacent.

I also think it matters what type of music I'm trying to play. As usual, no easy answers for me at least.

Mood definatly effects MY playing. On a friday night gig after working a 10 hr. day when I run in and throw everything on the bandstand, don't get a real good sound check, or tuned real good, bass is to loud, guitar is to loud, drummer is dragging, can't get good tone on my steel,,,,,,, yeah mood definatly effects things!

Then Saturday night, rested up, no rush, walk in tune up, hey it sounds great. Really gonna have a good time tonight!

it may not always make a person out of tune or off tempo, but it can effect your sound, dynamics, choice of notes, & the list goes on. the other gentlemen are right on & what you are experiencing is true mood effects everything. personaly i have went out not caring what happened & played very aggessive, a tearing it up mind set, & some of my best playing happened by just throwing caution to the wind.

Playing slightly out of tune does effect my mood.
I see a negative circle here...

Well seriously, sure the mood reflects in my playing.
Maybe not enough for the audience to notice, but sometimes the guitar just plays itself, and sometimes it's a struggle all the way.

Some times my steel playing can really make people cry, or laugh! I'm wondering if that's a good thing or not!

Sure,a mood swing will effect my playing as far as how aggressive I am or how creative I may be. The one that gets me is if I am really POd to the point of leaving is when I play the best, in spite of how I really feel.

I play for my own entertainment. I have noticed my mood swings as sometime it is a real re-difinition of a song say I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry. If I am blue this song can get real blusy. If I am normal I play it more straight. Now If I am really tired or fed up, disgusted, most of the time, I don't want anything to make it worse, so I don't

My mood doesnt effect my playing, but if I have a bad sound, eq just doesnt sound right or I can't hear my self that well on stage then I can get in a bad mood real fast.

My mood and the surroundings definately effect my playing. If I'm distracted then I find my playing is not as clean as it should be and my tone and attack isn't there.

Whatever my mood, if I sit down and play for 10 minutes, I get feeling like its time to lay down for a nap!

Needless to say, my progress on the instrument has been slow.

My playing affects my mood more than the other way around. No matter how I am feeling, after about 3 songs everthing is copasetic.
