How about Jimmy Buffets....He Went To Paris. Don't know who the steeler is, but its beautiful. BTW I use it in Tequila Sunrise with my band...it fits perfectly.

That's Doyle Grisham on the Buffet tunes. There are several with Buffet by Doyle that are nice, the most famous being "Come Monday."

Dan Dougmore's steel on Linda Ronstadt's "Blue Bayou", and Cal Hand's steel break in Leo Kottke's "Morning Is The Long Way Home" both revealed the awesome potential of the pedal steel guitar for me and remain firm favourites.

Chuck Campbell on "Pass Me Not, Gentle Savior" on the Campbell Brothers first CD, Pass Me Not. Hearing that changed everything I thought I knew about how close to the soul you could get with a slide instrument. A whole lot of the top of my list would be Chuck and Darick and other Sacred Steel players, can't get past how beautiful and vocal those guys get.

And the many incredible explorations of the unknown that I've heard Dave Easley take. He can take it from the blues to the moon and back without looking like he's even moving his fingers.

Buddy Emmons - 'Wichita Lineman' (and anything else from the Ray Charles album, 'Volcanic Action...', including Herb's pick, 'I Feel So Bad'!!!!)

Skunk Baxter's marvelous 'though simple ride on Steely Dan's 'Razor Boy'.

Rarely credited and, I assume, long-forgotten - Buddy Emmons' solo on Merle Haggard's 'Blue Suede Shoes' on his Elvis tribute album from the late-1970s. It's GREAT (not unlike 'I Feel So Bad') and you can hear Roy Nichols' laughter in the background as he marvels at BE's fluidity....

Buddy Emmons "Las Golandrinas" from a Star Day Steel guitar compilation which also in cluded Charlton"s "Almost To Tulsa". The title of Emmons' work was changed to "Singing Strings". I wore out this one. Lots pathos in the delivery of this tune that I think Jerry Byrd had recorded first. Don D.

That's my all time favorite solo as well.

Honky Tonk Heart - Tommy Spurlock w/ Highway 101. I like all the playing on that song...the solo and the fills.

Henry - Buddy Cage w/ Newriders Of The Purple Sage. Buddy did a hot solo on that song from their live album, Home Home On The Road.

Misty - Jay Dee Maness w/ Ray Stevens

Step Aside - Lloyd Green w/ Faron Young. No real solo in that song, but some nice background fills.
