New Lap King site is up, stop on by!

Post by Jason Dumont »

Hi everyone, I don't mean to spam everybody but a couple of fellow forumites had emailed me asking when the new site was going to be ready. I had a "New site coming soon!" message up for the last 3 weeks.
Anyway, she's up and running so stop on by if you get a chance!
It's www.lapking.com

I'll leave a light on for ya

Nice site, Jason -- you do incredible work, and the site shows it off beautifully. Some day, a Bel Aire... (sigh)

Looks great Jason! Beautiful presentation of beautiful instruments! The f-hole Rodeo is indeed stunning - glad to see that wasn't a one-off.

Have a good weekend!

Thanks guys! I'm glad you liked it.
I still have to fix a couple typos, I swear, right when you think you got them all you see that you spelled "electronics" electonics--oh yeah, I'm sharp alright.

Beautiful work!!! Now I'll be the bad guy and ask the unpopular question...Why not offer both Bel-Air models in both scale lengths (23" & 25")???

Thanks guys, I'm glad you guys swung by.
Good question Wayne, I can do any scale length on any model. I use the 23" most often on the 8's to make it easier to do slants, but certainly it's not set in stone :)

Jason, I hope that you realize that looking at your website is pure torture for those of us that can't afford one of your beautiful guitars. But, I can't help myself...I look anyway.

Very nice, Jason!

I like the presentation--looks good, useful & enjoyable sound clips (for the Rodeos, at least--hope to hear some Bel Aire clips too) and all with a minimum of clicking around.

It was also interesting to read a little more about how you worked your way into becoming "Lap King."

Jason, your designs are awesome!

Can you get a red tail-light on that Bel-Aire?

I recently had the pleasure of playing one of Jason's lap steels when I was in a guitar store in Amherst, MA.
I immediately recognized it as one of his, even though it was unmarked. It had the Bel-Aire shape had a gold top without aluminum adornment and a humbucker or single coil pickup. The quality of that instrument was superb and it played and sounded wonderful.

I don't know how long ago it was made, but judging from the new models on his site it certainly has evolved into an even more beautiful and versatile lap steel.

Sorry Chris no tail light!
Wow Richard I always wondered what happened to that guitar! Boy that is an early one. I think it was #2
I have to head up there.
If it's in the shop "Fretted Instrument Workshop" it will be a treat to take a road trip up that way. I haven't been there in years but they used to have some incredible acoustic instruments there, Froggy Bottom, Santa Cruz,Gibson (vintage) and Martins.
I'm happy she still holds her own :)

Hey Jason, nice site. I played this weekend on A Prairie Home Companion and Jerry Douglas was also on the show. Was that one of your guitars? He was describing his other guitar which was the Bellaire I'm assuming.
He sat in with us on some rock & roll and he just screamed.

I don't know Chris, He sure has a collection from a lot of folks. He has a black one and a sea foam green (turquis) one but it could have been something else. He has quite the tool box :)
