Thanks Jim, I love all the clips. I hope theye're will be a "share a single string jazz lick tab" sort of thing on here that folks could contribute to and learn from.

Wonderful initiative, Jim!!! And a great collection of songs.

Wouldn't it be possible to add Rick Schmidt's wonderful rendition of "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" to this site? There can't possibly be a better place than this to host it (except maybe a full-length CD from Rick).

Jim, you really do need to twist Rick Schmidt's arm to put his version of "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" on your site!

Thanks Jan and Dave (sounds like 'Jan and Dean' don't it? ;)) I've already written to Rick about that and am awaiting word from him.

Check out newly added clips from:

Ron Halldorston (The Killer from Kanada! Former bass player for Lenny Breau. Go there now!)

Rick Schmidt (the great underground version of 'Goodbye Porkpie Hat'. There's definitely a Mingus among us!)

Randy Beavers (excerpt from the tune 'Make Your Point' on his new CD, 'The Next Step'. Every time Randy plays, he makes his point. Did I say, 'Go there now!'?)

Here's the link again: www.steelguitarjazz.com When you arrive, click on the 'Listening Library'. Have fun and Dig Dat Chazz! 8)

Good jod, Jim! Whatever happened to that guy, Jeff Lampert(sp?) from the "old" Forum? He posted some good jazz back then.
But keep up what you're doing!

Thanks for the suggestion Stephen, and the link Rick. I'll check out the tunes and pick something for sure. And I'll add Jeff's site as a link from mine, since it's such a valuable resource.

Jim-Great Site! I just checked it out. Just what we need. Agreed, Steel Guitar isn't just for Country. It is for all kinds of Music, including our Jazz favorites....al.:):):)

Here I am playing at a Jazz jam in 1953 with my Gibson 6 pedal Electra-Harp on a pipe stand. No piano,or guitar, just my steel laying down the chords.

hi Jim,
Good going in getting a site dedicated to jazz on steel guitar. It's great to see a site focused on giving recognition to the important role pedal/lap steel can contribute to the jazz genre. ...lefty

Thanks for all your interest, folks. For your listening and dancing pleasure, I have just added a new clip from AL VESCOVO. It's the kickoff tune from his latest CD, "Steelin' Some Jazz". It's called 'Bernie's Tune'. Al plays great on this (and, indeed on the whole CD) with a tremendous rhythm section and horn player (whose playing I love, btw).

To hear the new clip, head over to www.SteelGuitarJazz.com and click on the Listening Library

Enjoy!
