Dr. Wayne Yakes proudly displays the newest member of his family- Star Guitars' "Texas Legend" at the ISGA Convention in St. Louis. Mark Giles created this one of a kind for Dr. Wayne and this is the 1st in a series- each being unique. The picture does not do the detail justice- the intricacies of the center inlaid Alamo have to be seen to be properly appreciated. |

I've never played a Star, so I can't speak for their characteristics, or how they sound of feel, but they certainly are some of the best looking steels out there.
Every time I've seen one I've thought "what a gorgeous guitar."

Mark told me about this "series" project last year when we were discussing how I wanted my MSA Legend finished. It's really cool to see one of the pieces done! Looks great!

Marks steels sound and play as good as they look. They are fantastic instruments. We will be seeing way more of them. They make there own pickups also and are really on to something.

| my star steel is without a doubt the finest sounding and playing steel i have ever owned. tone to die for, solid construction, and very comfortable to play. mine is a glossy black mica, not as 'purdy' as this one, but one i am very proud and confident to have on stage. congrats on owning such a beautiful guitar. and to the one and only mark giles, congrats on building such a work of art! |

I've been playing a mica-finish Star guitar for the past month, including a trip to France and my Friday night performance at the International Steel Guitar Convention.
My opinion of the Star is the same as Baxter's; the guitar fits my body, plays great, and sounds great. A steel guitar pioneer (who shall remain nameless at this point in time) said to me "I hear you wised up and got a Star. Good choice."
I take that as an endorsement of my decision.

These are indeed excellent instruments. Mark has been kind enough to allow me to play a Star on the Dallas TSGA for the last 2 years. They are fantastic!!

| I got to play a new Star for only a few minutes last Saturday evening . It sounded great and played great also . My friend Mr. Curtis Mason bought his at the convention at St. Louis over Labor Day weekend . Very pretty guitar to say the least . I did see that the knee levers were a remake of the Sho~Bud tear drop levers ( in my opinion ) ! But i have been wrong before ! Anyway a very nice guitar . G.P. |
