I would like to get in touch with the man that put all those Wilburn Brothers TV Show videos on You Tube. His sign-in name is "SleepyCreek". I want a dvd of the videos he had posted on YouTube until the YouTube Police yanked all the Hal Rugg and Curly Chalker instrumental videos off! They even bar him from the YouTube website. So, if anyone knows how to get in touch with him, or if anyone has all those videos and will make me a copy, please let me know. Thank You! papasteel@charter.net

I was a great promoter of `Sleepcreek's` videos here until his demise from you-tube. If it really is Gary, is it possible for him to post the videos here through another medium?..?.. Gary, I believe you are a member here. Please do your best to restore such a wonderful resource.

I loved watching those videos too, but there is probably some legal reason why they can't be made available.

I'm guessing, and even if it seems obvious to some,
this is probably how it works (or doesn't, in terms of videos getting pulled from YouTube).
The rights to the Wilburn Bros, Del Reeves, Porter Wagoner, Buck Owens Ranch shows are all owned by "someones;" an individual or corporation.

To legally make these available for re-broadcast or
video collections, those with controlling interests--
the company/individuals who actually posess the original filmstock, the performers (or their estates,
that may involve one or more individuals with a say so), maybe even the individuals originally involved in the shows' production, have to be contacted and give their permission(s) for the material to be broadcast or sold.

So, even ignoring whatever monetary compensation that
becomes involved along the way, everbody in the chain
needs to be contacted and their permission given. Just tracking down all those people, regardless of
their giving say so or wanting some money out of the deal, requires a lot of time, and as they say, time is...

Then, whoever is spending all this time trying to get permission(s) for sale or re-broadcast has to decide if it's worth the trouble, will it be profitable, even just enough to cover expenses (editng footage, restoring, sound re-production, etc.).

By this time, even if the person(s) wanting those great old clips of Hal Rugg and Buddy Spicher, Del Reeves/Larry Sasser, Buck/Don/Tom, Curley Chalker,
may have hit enough roadblocks that they can't get all the rights they need (to avoid some kind of legal
action from aunt Ginny's estate) and boom--end of a
great intention or money generating opportunity.

The sad part is that this great footage, and there is
a lot of it, will just sit in a box in some corner of
Lassky's warehouse and further deteriorate...Or sit on a shelf in someone's home and collect dust even though they're more than willing to share them with
those who remember or those who had no idea that all
this great stuff ever existed in the first place.

Sorry this is so long. In spite of knowing some of the problems that keeps us from seeing, it's like some kind of national treasure that needs to be available for anyone to see. JMHO.

Whoever sleepycreek is, he/she deserves some kind of
acknowledgement for all the fine footage posted on YouTube...

You are absolutely right about this stuff needing to be re-released.
I have been catching all the Wilburn Brothers,Pop goes, Del Reeves, etc. shows on my DVR.
I have been reading a DVR forum that explains how to remove the hard drive from the DVR and convert the material to DVD.
I fully intend to do this for my own archives and if the copyright police get me so be it.

You can order the Buck Owens Ranch Videos from the Crystal Palace www.buckowens.com Buck was probably the first artist and one of the last that had ownership rights to all of his masters at the end of his recording contract(s) capital records sure lost a bundle. I loved watching sleepycreeks vides btw.

I also believe that Willy Nelson owns the rights to the Wilburn Brothers and Porter Wagnor shows. I knw when I have watched them on RFD network they have acknowledged Wille and thanked him for making them available.
