Letterman this Wed. 6/26

Post by Jon Graboff »

I’ll be on the Late Night with David Letterman this Wednesday June 27 with Ryan Adams and the Cardinals playing my Sho-Bud Pro l. I recently did a total rebuild of it with John Coop’s fantastic parts. There are still a few ergonomic adjustments I still need to make, but oh! What a difference! Thanks Coop!

I find this Magnolia Mountain outstanding. Beautiful song, sort of a tribute to the Dead, seems to me, performed with the poise and sonic cohesion of a band that has been working together for a while. Better than average recording quality too.

Jon Graboff,
Good on you son. You have the nod.
You sounded great...in tune, taste, tone and you sang harmony too! I wish you the best. The show reminded me of the first time I heard Rusty Young.
All things good for the pedal steel and for it's future.
All the best to you,
TW

Jon Graboff, you are a very tasteful player. Great tone on the Sho-Bud and knowing where to lay your parts in without over playing. The sign of a great steel guitar player. Bravo. Excellent arrangement very professionally done. Ryan is is getting artisticly mature and better all the time. I am very impressed with his singing and artistry on this. Jon Light, I thoroughly agree with you.

I got an email from Jon yesterday, and he is now in Adelaide, Australia! He says it's weird to be on the other side of the planet where water goes down the drain, among other things!

The things you played on the Letterman show was fantastic, and it's always great to see the side men getting a little exposure as well!

Good on ya mate, and keep up the great work.

I like this song. But I don't think I ever saw a man(?) with pig tails before. Thanks for posting the link.

Hey folks, thanks for the nice comments. I really appreciate it! To my NYC pals Steve Alcott and Jon Light, thanks for all the continuing support. It’s great to know that my homies got my back.

Bill Dobkins: I’ve been in the Cardinals for a little over 2 1/2 years.

Tommy White: high praise indeed!

Here’s a YouTube link to an additional song with a boatload of steel on it that we performed for the Letterman audience after the show ended. It was posted as an exclusive web only video on the Late Night web site. When the song ended, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I assumed it was a stagehand telling me to get up so they could clear the stage but it was Dave! I looked right at me and said “nice job”. I have a friend who works on the show and he told me that Dave never does that kink of thing and I should take it as a big compliment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dty4Jk0eERA

Very nice stuff. I had to listen to all those YouTube clips. And it was a very enjoyable "chore." :)

Very tasteful. Great tone and control. Thanks for keeping the steel in the spotlight. It was there exactly when it needed to be. Congrats and (raising glass to toast) here's to many great opportunities.
