Hi Rob, I don't know what to think anymore. I guess in the end it doesn't really matter.
Are you still playing that Tut Taylor dobro? What a beauty. I should have bought that one myself!

One other thing that I noticed is that he has the bar in one place and the sound of the strings don't match up...the shorter the distance of the bar from the changer, the higher the pitch of the string...in a few places on the first video the sound and the fret that the bar is over is some what bass ackwards.

He's sitting on a drum throne, that's why his timing is off!

Looks to me like this guy made the video and didn't like the audio so picked the best take from some others ( maybe one he recorded before he got his camera)and punched it in. He started the punch in from a point after he sits down, where he starts to pick. He just didn't line it up the very well.
Probably just recorded over the audio track on the video by holding a mike up to a speaker while his best take was playing.
Does't make him a fraud or suspect in my book.
I like his playing.

I think this poor guy has been beaten on enough.

I agree with b0b Lee, and I too record it and sinked
it. He is playing it.

Mark, that sounds like a good explanation. He probably pre-recorded the audio, kept his best take, and played that audio through an amp in the room, while videotaping himself trying to match up with it. I doubt very much that he is playing live on that video. I still have a problem with the room sounds being in perfect sync while the steel guitar is not. I would like to think that this is 'sync'ing to His Own picking, and not someone else's.

I think the worst case all original but he is syncing to his own picking. But I suspect he is playing live, this given by the fact that those who have actually re-sync'd the video see the hands, feet, etc. track with the video. Other possibilities is he is playing live and the camera mic is picking up the room sounds but the steel is patched into another recording device which he dubbed on to the original video without deleting the background noise. Maybe there are other technical explanations but I am not familiar enough with the process to understand. Perhaps his original was perfectly in sync but when uploading to youtube and going thru the processing to compress the youtube file the channel with the steel track shifted, the native backgroud audio did not. Too bad he can't tell us what happened. Seems like a real nice guy, he had left some very complimentary comments on some of the youtube videos I posted. Apparently he is from Switzerland and is English is not fluent. Too bad he can't tell us but I think he has corrected the technical glitch should he post any more.

This is silly. It's obvious that the codec dropped a segment of audio after he sat down. That's why the room noise is in sync and the steel part isn't. The glitch happened after he sat down, and before he started picking.

I can't believe that you guys are still debating this.
