Trying a 19 2nd string did not create enough tension to hold the lever from sliding.
To test my theory I made a small plastic spacer to wedge between my two levers. It helps to keep the 2nd string lever from sliding. It works but is not pretty.

That is a beauty. I see they moved the toggle switch. I've got a yellow one with the retro look. This steel has tons of tone. The levers do require some adjustments in technique ... I've played lots of dobro so I've put mine in G tuning so I don't have to relearn the entire neck, relearn tunes, etc....

Great advice from everyone. I find my intention, what I intend to express comes first mentally, then the physical part happens. So ... if I want to make every note say something, if I want to pick clean, my intention must be so. I must first hear in my head my desired end result. Makes a huge differ...

Thanks for the suggestions. The delrin is a good idea if it comes down to spacers. The return spring would be difficult to have anywhere but the right spot. It wedges between two screw heads. It's my 2nd string, high B, #18. A higher gauge would most likely help but the most I'd put on the 2nd strin...

Duesenberg Multibender Problem
First off the Duesy Pamona is the best sounding/playing lapsteel in my experience. I love this instrument. It sounds beautiful. I've tuned my Pamona in G tuning (GBDGBD) using the same gauges as the Pamona string set. Levers are set for lowering 2nd string (high B) down a full step, and other lever ...

At every gig my band gives a quick introduction to the thingie in my lap. Everyone is interested. There are always a few that come up between sets to see it closer. Here's a question for all of you ... If the sound of an instrument is new and not recognized to an audience, do they hear it? Consider ...

I have not tried C6 on a reso, but like Brad said the smaller gauge strings on a dobro will sound thin. No harm trying though. Most 6 string reso players use open G for a good reason, it sounds great and is very versatile. With open G you can play blues, rock, swing, jazz, bluegrass, country, etc. A...

Re: carp steel
James I got my Carpsteel barely a month ago. It does play well, after tweaking by Jim Palenscar. I won't know if it holds up well for a few years, but I don't see why not as the body is aluminum and the parts look like quality machined parts. As he mentioned, Jim Eaton brought his Carp by Jim's shop...

JR, I also got my Carpsteel about a month ago. I wanted a very light steel and got that. At 22 pounds it's no issue to move around. I did have to put some dollars into getting it setup for my short legs. Also some of the rods, pedals and knees needed tweaking. Jim Palenscar did a masterful job of re...
