Nels Cline tuning(s)?

Hello everyone! I'd like to try something new outside of the C6/A6/E13 realm so I started thinking of steel players with a unique style and sound that I dig. Nels Cline of Wilco/Nels cline Singers was the first to come to mind. However there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information concerning h...

Chandler has a very nice blonde tolex lap steel case made by G & G. I have one and it fits the chandler perfectly and my mastertone very nicely as well.

wow thanks for all the great advice! This forum has been such an amazing resource for a young steeler like myself! Best $5 I've ever spent!

Is there anything I should look for in a used pedal steel? i.e. How can I know if everything is in working order and what questions should I ask a seller?

Non-pedaler in need of an education

HELLO! I've been passionately playing non-pedal steel for about 3 years now and I'm starting to look into getting my first PSG. However, when it comes to PSG I have no clue what I'm doing. Unfortunately, I don't have the biggest budget, somewhere around $1200-1500. I think a single 10 is what I'm af...

I'm 6'3" and I haven't had a problem with standing up to a keyboard stand. Don't know what brand I have, but when you find one I suggest putting some pipe insulation on the top of it. Grips the guitar and pads it, and you don't have to stick anything to it. It costs like 1.50 or so at the hardw...

The outside neck on mine is definitely a lot fuller sounding. Mine has the older (I think they're older...right?) rectangular boxcars, but I think it has to do with the thickness of the wood. I keep that neck in C6 and inside neck in E13 as Rick Alexander suggested, and I find the tension to be fair...

I'd say Class A is way to go for the Hawaiian sound. I have a '62 Gibson GA-5 and it's perfect for anything oldschool. I also have a Epiphone Valve Jr that I love to goof around on.

I find that the higher powered amps just sound a little too clean for Hawaiian.

I don't think its a lap dawg though that was my first guess. Although the logo definitely rubs off easy and they are chrome plated. But they don't round off quite as gradually at the top like this one and they are 2 3/4 inches.

Old band pictures?

I was just reading a book that had quite a few pictures of young garage bands from the late 50's and 60's and I got to thinking... there must be a few members here who have some cool old photos of themselves or bands they were in in the 50's and 60's! So if you have a picture or two of one of your o...

Thanks so much for the info! You wouldn't happen to know what tuning Lost Highway is in would you? And did JB use C6 or A6 on I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry?

Thanks!

I was just wondering... Did Jerry Byrd play on Hank Sr's Lost Highway?

Can't believe I never heard the song before today!

I'm a tube fan myself. I think they are a lot warmer and sonicly pleasing. My personal experience with solid state has been that with a band they don't cut through the mix very well... as soon as the drums and bass kick in I just disappear. BUT I do think they are much better for clean tones and the...

Shes not really my bag, I guess it's over my head. BUT I will say that I've never seen anything quite like it! Shoot, if I had a looper like that I don't think I could do anything like that...

I try to give credit where credit is due... so I give it 2 thumbs up!
