Hey Cartwright!

Exactly the item I was looking at! :) I'll shoot him an email now. It amazes me that i've been playing guitar for almost 20 years (guitar, not PSG) and I still know so little about amps and the technical side of this craft in general! Oh, well - thank god for the forum I guess!

Has anybody played a PSG through a Groove Tubes Soul O 45?

Random question...has anybody on the forum ever played a PSG through a Groove Tubes amp? I have always been interested in picking one up for my guitar rig...but suddenly I now have ANOTHER instrument to worry about! Now I don't mean to reopen any of the Peavey vs. Fender debates and all that good st...

Billy! Thank you so much for asking Bill for clarification on his diagram! Bill, it was so clear you put time into drawing up the sketch and scanning it in, etc - I didn't want to be rude and say I had no idea what I was looking at! But now that I do, thank you SO MUCH! In a funny followup to my pos...

Bent, Thank you so much for the reply. It was really the "pick" portion that i was struggling with. I have fairly rounded (vs. pointy) fingertips. The set that I am trying to match wrap almost PERFECTLY the curvature of my finger and the end of the pick does point pretty much straight up. ...

Finger Pick Shaping Tutorial?

Has anyone out there ever seen a good tutorial on finger pick shaping? Let me preface this email by saying that I have been spending the last few days reading the MANY MANY posts on this subject. So when I brought home my MSA from Tom Cass' place (my first steel) - he sent me home with two sets of f...

Yeah - this really is a pretty amazing record. I just went out and purchased his most recent on Nathan's recommendation. Already really digging it. It's funny how drastically different this stuff is from the Master & Everyone type stuff...which is where I first got turned onto his stuff.

Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Greatest Palace Music

MSA Question for Reece

Hi Reece! I just bought my very first pedal steel from Tommy Cass out in Baldwinville MA. I was hoping you could shed some light on it's vintage as well as any other info you might have! It is an S10 Classic and the serial is: 1C5132 Thank you so much in advance for any info you might have! - Michae...

Thanks all! I actually heard back from Tommy Cass today and he told me that he has everything I will need to get started (tonebars, picks, etc). I think I'll probably just get a good little starter kit from him - and then once I have a few days to play around - order from some of the online shops yo...

PSG Accoutrements: Like the Batteries on Christmas

Hey all! So I think I've found my first Pedal Steel thanks entirely to the direction of everyone on this great great site. I am going to see Tommy Cass on Tuesday and will be bringing home an MSA S10. Needless to say, I am insanely excited. So here's my question. What else do I need to buy, so I can...

Quintessential Recordings (help me give Amazon my money)

Hey all,

It's Thursday, day is dragging, need a pick-me-up. Sort of looking for some suggestions on quintessential pedal steel recordings to get me through the afternoon.

Thanks!

First Pedal Steel (Pro S10 vs. Student D10)

Hey all, I'd like to apologize for all the newbie stuff I've been posting here, and I promise to lay off a bit as I get a little more settled into this stuff. That said, I have one more question I would love to pose to the group. So I've dug through the forum and found a lot of great recommendations...

Name that Steel Player - "Let's Duet" (from Walk H

This is totally random, and please - don't anyone go out of their way to figure this out...but I was watching the movie Walk Hard (spoof on Walk the Line, etc) last night and the pedal playing on one of the tunes stuck out to me. Does anyone know who is playing on the (very funny) song "Let's D...

Hey everyone! Been searching for some new music to purchase - particularly i'm looking for any new Indie Alt-Country stuff with a prominent pedal steel player. Great to meet your Chris! Kind of funny, I think it's the very FACT that steel seems so different that is drawing me to it so strongly. I love playing my Collings, I love playing my 335, I love all the others - but at the end of the day...they are all guitars. I think after so many years of playing,...
