That was great. Thanks for posting!
What effects can you use to get the distortion sound he has? I just bought an Asher Jr with the Lollar pickups.

Don, here's another cool site somebody else posted on this forum a while back that is very helpful. It is an interactive site that allows you to specify a specific tuning, and then will show you where all the chords and scales are up and down the neck just by clicking on whatever chord or scale type...

Hi Don, I am far from an expert player, but I do play mostly blues style lap steel in open E tuning, from high string to low that would be EBG#EBE. (I'm also assuming you have a six string guitar) If that is the same tuning as yours, then the open string strum would sound as an E major chord, E=root...

I believe the vast majority of dobros sold these days go to bluegrassers, and that group, for the most part, much prefer the sound of the newer ones for reasons previously mentioned (banjo killers, etc). I played one of the newer Wechter-Scheerhorns (or Frugalhorns, as they are sometimes known) recently, and was very impressed. While the guitars are indeed built overseas, I believe the final setup, which is critical in a dobro, is done here, and the new ones have Tim's new cones he spins in his shop...

Depends on the kind of music you listen to, and want to play. Good condition older dobros will give you the older sounds if that's what you prefer, and they are generally less expensive than the new guitars that sound similar, though not by much. I have a 1929 dobro, sounds good and gives you the ol...

I'm going to try to post that on Resonation. Thanks Martin, absolutely beautiful. I also get teary eyed with that one - it was one my best friend and I used to play together a lot back in the seventies - he passed away three years ago and every time I hear this I think of him. thanks again, just bea...
