Oh boy, that is beautiful! Love the wood you used and the design. Tom Pettingill would have loved what you did. What scale and what tuning. That pup will be killer for growling blues.

Just beautiful, outstanding work Bill. Kudos! I like how you kept the aesthetics of the Panda and Audiovox in your builds but then added your own customizations. Very much how Tom Pettingill was with wood lap steels.

Gotta love that Lollar String-thru pup, really growls if you dig in.

I have both the Ceramic Poncha and Stone Element tone bars. Outstanding bars for tone and playability.

For anyone who plays slide guitar, RMSC also offers Ceramic and Stone Element slides in a variety of inside diameters and lengths. Great feel and tone.

For anyone interested, The Dude v2 sounds so great with lap steel. Stacks extremely well with Klon type pedals too! I’m using it with the ARC Effects Klone. No longer looking for a Simble but this post could go to electronics maybe since there are some good pedal recommendations. The Dude is a &quo...

I just love Larkin Poe. Such a talented band. I believe that she sporadically dabbles in Open D. As to her playing slants, here's a link to the sisters playing Sweet Home Chicago....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fF2Fr98W0gk As to Lindley, go on YT and search of some videos of Lindley with Ry Coode...

Congrats on your score......of a Pettingill. I am fortunate to have 4 of his "babies". My first one was this one, the Frying Pan Special. It has the BP Pups Hellabucker in the bridge and their Lizard (ultra creamy) in the neck. Kills it for blues and rock. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/v...

G/d Tuning

Lo-to-Hi...G-B-D-F#-A-D I know we have some Forumites who play extensively or dabble frequently with this tuning. It appears to be very versatile. Lots of chords available straight on without using a bar. G Maj; D Maj; B Min; D6; Bm7 Also, an easy retune from Dobro G. I was hoping some of you may po...

Love the Audiovox body and idea of that Lollar pickup.

That pickup really growls when pushed.

Tom Pettingill and I had bantered about basing a steel off the Audiovox body.

Looking forward to the finished product.

What scale length is it and what tuning will you be using?

Kind of partial these days to the MojoHand Iron Bell and the Wampler Velvet Fuzz. I use them for mild-moderate fuzz in conjunction with the sustain from the Barber Tone Press compressor.

The TP gives a real nice singing sustain with a gentle compression of your notes. Not really a "squash" type compression.
