DIY Footpedal

I'm thinking about it for now - after I realized how much tone a pot can suck out of your instrument. I'm considering using a hall effect sensor if only to learn something new. I'm wondering what the Hilton pedal uses. Another option might be a photo cell circuit - I still have my footpedal/powerpac...

Thanks guys, I'm a proponent of less is more so what you both say makes sense to me. I am just trying to fatten the sound a bit. When I use my reverb I generally bring it up until I can hear it and then tweek it down so that it appears but not in your face. Eldon

Delay Pedal. Need Education.........

I have a rack mount Peavey and a Behringer DD400 (not a Boss but that's all I wanted to spend at the time). It's got the following: Level; Feedback; Time and Mode with Hold 200, 500,and 1300 ms. The modes are adjustable within a range. My problem is that wherever I adjust it I don't like the resulti...

I'll second Pete on Best Practice. The other feature I like is that it stays on pitch. Perhaps a bit of a resource hog but if you don't have too many things going on at once it works just great.

I'm amazed Bent, othing short of professional here. How long does it take you to put a guitar together.

Converting from C6 to E9th ???

I'm considering converting my C6 single neck to E9th. It has 8 strings and 6 pedals w no knees. Other than the learning curve to play it I'm wondering about the wisdom of doing it. I play mostly country and I built the guitar so I'm not afraid of mechanics of converting. It seems that most folks go ...

Thanks Guys!

I appretiate the comments and suggestions. I'm going to try some of the suggestions starting with the volume pedal. Didn't even think that an extra pot would suck up tone. I don't play commercially any more and our gigs are mostly for seniors an hour at a time so I try to balance minimum equipment a...

Switch Between Rhythm & Lead Playing

Not a Steel guitar question but I'm musing about the following. I'd like to put a spst switch and a POT between my guitar and amp for use as follows. 1.) With switch off signal flows through pot for a lower preset volume for rhythm playing. 2.) With switch on the POT is bypassed giving a hotter sign...

Tab Conversion from E9 to C6

Is there software that will allow me to do this? I've messed around a bit with Excel but it's a bit cumbersome. Any thoughts would be welcomed.

PUP Mounting

First of all, happy new year! I've mounted the pup on my new steel with velcro for the time being. It works and holds it in place. I'm thinking of a permanent or movable mount that once I'm satisfied with the tone I can tighten it down. Considering the current mounting is almost "floating"...

Pick Blocking Mechanics

I need to be sure about this. My undestanding is to pick block you do the following: 1. Pick the desired string with the desired finger 2. Let it ring for as long as need be 3. "Block" the ring by placing your original picking on the string. This is how I'm doing it is it correct?? Any com...

We got home from Mesa Arozona a few days ago. While there My wife & I dropped in to see Fred Justice. Having built a couple of steels for personal use I wanted to see how the pros do it and I wasn't disapointed. Fred and Brenda recieved us very warmly and as I looked around the shop I realized t...

It sounds to me like most folks are using a thumb pick and 2 finger picks. I use 3 finger picks & I find palm blocking very difficult. Any ideas for us 4 fingered pickers would be most helpful.

Thanks! Eldon

This makes so much sense for any instrument. If you think you should be front and center all the time then guess what - you're making the music sound boring.
