Early 1970 P/P 8p 7k

Early 1970 pp restored a few years ago by Tommy Cass and set up last year by Kelcey at Emmons. Guitar plays great and sounds great, even though it is a fatback, it has that classic tone of an early Emmons. It has the polished undercarrige as well. 8 pedals and 7 knees. Emmons setup and it has a spli...

Jeff, Clint and I talked about you a bit the other day! This version was recorded with Cody Jinks and when we recorded it, the producer didn’t want the intro to be spot on to what you had recorded. Just little changes but the intro is definitely different. For the rest of Clint’s set, he likes to ke...

Thanks Craig and Brett! I sure love that playing that song. I’ve been with Cody for 7 years now and I’ve been working with Clint part time for a few months. He’s finally wised up and hired a steel player for his shows again!

Thanks Val! It was a fun show for sure! Erin’s husband Jordan is playing steel for her on the road and I did the session work for her album soon to be released. Whitey’s steel player is Johnny Up.

Here’s my U12. I’ve used this tuning for 8 years now and I absolutely love it. I’ll never go back to a D10 other than studio use at home. I can get anything on this tuning that I could on a C6th. And I love using the lower strings for harmony with the higher strings. It gets lost on stage in the mix...

Hey Bobby! Yes sir that was me! I’ve played on the last 7 Jinks albums as well as touring with him for the last 6 years. Mercy is definitely one of my favorite albums we’ve cut so far! Bill, I cherish those memories. I did an interview with Rolling Stones a few years ago and one of the memories ...

Franklins are great guitars. I owned one a few years ago. Engineers and producers in Nashville swear by Franklin guitars. They do record better than most other guitars (for some reason). Their unique midrange sounds awesome in a studio. But live, I didn’t like the guitar. And the way it played was...

I use a pretty moderate setup live, an assortment of Strymon effects and a few vintage pedals. However, these days in the studio, im running straight into a Quilter Steelaire combo with PF400 speaker and Telonics VP. Thats all, I don't even use the onboard reverb. I let the engineer and producer dec...

Revelation Tube Pre $450

Trying again! For sale is a 2010 Brad Sarno Revelation Tube Preamp. I bough it new from Brad and used it mainly at steel shows and in the studio. Also included is the 3 cable hookup. This things sounds great, I just have no use for it anymore. There are no XLR outputs, I did not need them for my set...

Cowboy has been my mentor for several years now. He actually is the one (along with Robby Turner) who persuaded me to go on the road full time! I've played his tuning for 6 years now and if you do go with it, you won't be disappointed. Most of Cowboys studio work is done with his 65 Fender Twin with...

I've played a uni 12 for 5 years now and I'll never go back to a D10. My favorite pickups in a 12 are Lawrence 712 and XR-16. I have 2 Mullen G2s and the one I leave on the semi has the XR-16. To me, that pickup is brighter live and cuts through the sound system a little better. But in the studio, I...

Tyler Hall and I were talking about this the other day. Sadly, some producers and engineers hear with their eyes more than they do their ears. I've been on several sessions and have actually been asked if I could get ahold of a Franklin a few times. To me, you're going to sound like you on any guita...

Dang Ricky, sounds like you got it figured out pretty good! What are you using to record? I'm trying to get my little home studio going to record some steel overdubs. Working on Logic now trying to figure it out. You sound great though, stay safe!

I tracked down several of Buddys guitars several years ago just out of curiosity but only found a handful of them. Franklin SD-12?

Hey all, hope you're safe during these crazy times!

Did Franklin ever build an SD-12? I've seen a few S12s floating around but never an SD-12. On another note, I have toilet paper and hand sanitizer I would trade as a down payment on a Franklin if anyone has one haha. Take care!
