I hate to hear this. I met him once at a church where we played outside of Council Bluffs Iowa. He was very nice and we talked about the Jubilee as I grew up in the Springfield area and went to the Jubilee a several times

RIP Doc

Rich,
Do yourself a favor and take in the Dallas Show! You will learn more there in 3 days than you can possibly imagine. The steel manufacturers are all there to answer any question you might have. Most of all enjoy your journey into the world of steel guitar.

Thanks Godfrey for resurrection of this thread. I always enjoy the discussion of these guitars. Some dis these old guitars for mechanic deficiencies but forget the sound of them is what made us fall in love with steel guitar in the first place. Thanks to everyone for their contributions.

I have played with Albert many times while he was using this amp and it is a great sounding amp in a small, light package.

OH YEAH, the Ventures! Loved their stuff! I have a bunch of their albums. This is a hard one for me though as the 60's was a great time for all genres of music. Favorite song probably though was A Hard Days Night by the Beetles. Never did figure out that opening chord though. Seen lots of discussion...

Rick,
I use the exact same set up with forScore and the page flip. This combo gives me complete hands off control during the set. I have said this before, the iPad, forScore and Pageflip have been my most important non-instrument gear purchases in a long time.

Bummer. I wouldn't mind having a light weight guitar with pull-release mechanism. But I also play &q...
