Strings - Where to Buy? - Sets or Individual?

Almost time to restring 8 string lap steel in C6 tuning. Tuning low to high A C E G A C E G I think the last time I put strings on it I didn't have a set so I hunted down individual "spares" I had accumulated to to make a set. Any recommendations on where to buy a few sets? Or Do you order...

I am back again. Still haven't changed volume pedals. I am still using the Dunlop GCB80 High Gain Volume Pedal. I am still wanting a steel guitar volume pedal which doesn't squash my tone. The arguments for high profile vs low profile were blowing my mind. So I would like to narrow it down. I am 5'7...

Thanks for responding to the tuning machine post. Found my measuring device. I didn't see an area to send picture in the PM so am showing you what I was able to measure here. Attached is picture with my measurements. Most were either right-on (checkmark). Or very close (Circled) https://bb.steelguit...

Where can I get Tuning Machines for my 8 string Supro?

I have an old 8 string supro which has original functional machine heads. They work. Old, little sloppy, ...but ... they work. They are separate. Not in-line. I would like to replace them with some new ones with a high gear ratio if possible. I don't really see sets for eight strings. Only six. Any ...

I just received pedal a few days ago. Haven't dived into the controls too much yet. The settings you recommended worked pretty well out of the box with my steel (GFI) running into an FRFR speaker. I had to spend a lot of time trying to coax sounds with a modeler but not much luck , which is why I am...

I wonder if we move our bar faster than the speed of sound, ... would we be transported back in time? Wait, I was confused, I meant faster than the speed of light! I plan on getting one since I am now using an FRFR speaker with a modeler. Hoping to get better "amp" sound through Tone...

Did you happen to find an amp model emulation that would give a nice raunchy bluesy sound with a lap steel?

Thanks

Tuning suggestions for double neck 8 string lap steel ??

I am looking for two different neck tuning suggestions for a double neck 8 string lap steel. The genres I like are blues, country, bluegrass and maybe a little gospel. (I mainly play a 10 string pedal steel tuned to E9 but I like to doodle (or noodle?) around on a lap steel even though it isn't as f...

Sometimes I use a thumbpick and three fingerpicks. But,I can definitely "feel" the (correct) strings without goofing up if I use my fingers. But a little too mellow for me without the picks. I have always wondered: Do people who always play without picks develop callouses on their picking ...

8 string pickup replacement with some warmth?

I have a cheapo SX 8 string lap steel (with legs) that really doesn't sound bad ... but the pickup is a bit "sterile". Any recommendations on a replacement pickup with some warmth but not distorted. (In a perfect world everyone would have a lap king steel, but alas, its not a perfect world...

Anyone use the built-in Volume pedal on a multi effect unit?

I know there are many effects that can be used with a pedal (or even lap) steel. The effects are usually coming into, or out from, a dedicated volume pedal from either an effects pedal board or a multi effect unit. Some multieffect units have a built in volume pedal. Although it is not optimal, has ...

Would this be a good way to connect volume pedal (output) to either an amp or mixing board which is about 10-20 feet away?
