The pull rods are 3/32" in diameter. You can find them online at welding supply stores. Search for "welding rods." I bought some 3/32" stainless steel welding rods from Ebay. You can thread the ends with 4/40 thread (or even finer if you have the tool to do it.) The white plastic...

Thanks, Donny, I can do basic soldering of wires but don't have any clue how to replace the components you mentioned. You're right that it's best to take it to a qualified tech, which I may do at some point (Don't want to spend the $ right now.) The good news is that I can still use the broken Sessi...

Session 500 keeps burning fuse

Hello, My Peavey Session 500 made a loud "bzzzt!" noise and went dead. It was a burned fuse. I replaced the fuse with a new, 8A 250V fuse. Immediately after I turned it on, again "bzzzt!," went dead and the fuse burned again. Anyone know what it could be? I hope it's an easy fix ...

Thanks for you input guys. Some good tips here. I notice many people say TAB is a bit of a crutch. That's probably true because when I learned a couple of songs from watching video instead of TAB, I could remember these songs better. Figuring out parts by yourself is probably very useful. But figuri...

Tips on how to remember songs and steel parts better

Hello everyone. I've been learning and practicing a bit more recently (still not enough :) ) and focusing on trying to learn whole instrumental steel songs, rather than the noodling in different chord positions that I usually like to do. I love to learn a new song from TAB (check out Doug Beumier's ...

I thought he was a great harmony singer but then as the song went on discovered he's really the lead singer! That's some good stuff!

Jim, you're right. I just checked and my computer has that video editor app. I'll start with this one, maybe it will be enough for my needs since I just need to do basic stuff with it.

Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Richard, yeah I have an old injury on my left hand fingers. Hey guys, I made a YouTube video where you can see me using the armrest. It's just a quick "off-the-cuff" rockin' jam with my bro on drums. View it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p27R6_JrkOc If you notice in the video, I play a lot on just one fret. This armrest allows me to stay on...

Need a program for editing videos

I want to be able to crop the videos (set start/end points), also have different frames on the same screen (different frames showing each instrument,) as well as the possibility of synchronizing the video footage w...

I've been eying pedal steels, and for the life of me I haven't been able to get over how garrish most look... Which ones do you think are attractive? I depends on what music you want to play on your pedal steel. The black GFI is more suitable for playing Megadeth and Slayer songs, the yellow Sho-bu...

Interesting. The only limitation I can see with this is that it might not allow you "squeeze" the pedals, or press them slowly or faster for expression, and also to achieve half-pedaled notes. I was very skeptical of this kind of motorized string bending until I saw a guy on you tube that ...

Thanks for your comments, guys. You can use a normal bar with this pad, too. But you'll only get the bar support on the lower strings. As for the increased volume/resonance. It's only really noticeable with the guitar unplugged. Through the amp, there's not that much difference in tone/volume. To ge...

Nice playing, I enjoyed it. I like the tone he gets out of his MSA guitar, which sounds very warm and not trebly or shrill. The positive message of the song is refreshing too.

NEW: Armrest/pad that supports the tone bar WHILE you play

Ever since I got my Carter SD-12 over a decade ago, I've been experimenting with making different pads/armrests for it to make it more comfortable and ergonomic. Finally, 3 years ago I made a pad that I was absolutely happy with: It is solid wood so it has a solid support for your hand, the wood is ...

That looks like an excellent setup and you can't go wrong with it as it is. I wouldn't worry about changing anything because you have the main changes there. If you get the steel and after a while of playing you find out you absolutely need to change something, you can learn to do it, it's not that ...

I always enjoy seeing the different mods and fixes pedal steelers come up with for their guitars. This extension looks like a good, quick, temporary solution if you were sitting at someone else's steel at a jam, or if you were trying out a steel to buy that was too short. But for my own pedal steel,...
