Sacred steel for 10 string 3+4

Over Easter I'm going to be replacing the changer in my psg, and I thought it may be a good chance to change my tuning and copedant. I dabble in pedal steel but it hasn't had much play time the last few years compared to my other guitars, and I'm interested in the idea of a sacred steel tuning. My c...

Scott,
I have it set at about 22" and it can go about 3" either way from there.

I bought a Quake Stag hunting stool with a back rest. It's strong, height adjustable and portable. It is much more comfortable than my backless drum throne I had before,

Volume pedal issue

I have a scratchy volume pedal issue that has me stumped. The pedal is a Boss FV500 about a month old. Until last night, it had worked perfectly. Since last night, it crackles during motion when there is a signal running. Seems like a straightforward scratchy pot, except: > It occurs with none of my...

Wow! I spent a year searching for a bargain like that in Australia. In that time the only guitars I saw for under about AU$2500 were Mavericks. I eventually had to get one sent over from the States. You've done very well!

I suppose when you look at any genre of music in retrospect, rather than as it is being released, most of it tends to blend into a single grey mass. Stuff that was innovative when it came out gets swamped by all of the copycats who came later. If you didn't know it came first, you didn't know it was...

I'm just going to put on my asbestos suit before I type this, so feel free to flame away, but when was this supposed golden age when things were different? I presume most people in this thread are talking about some type of country music but to be honest, outside of maybe the blues I can't think of ...

Thanks you all very much for your replies. Steve, I think you in particular are getting very close to what I am talking about. I'm at work at the moment but will be closely reading all of your posts tonight.
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for the reply Don. It is a very tough question, but it does make a big difference to how to approach this instrument. I guess when people say they are 'playing out of a position' it means that they have reset their baseline to incorporate those pedal changes. The straight line I was talking a...

I was a bit reluctant to get involved in this thread, but we seem to be back on track to some really good stuff! A rather long question for the pros who are kind enough to lend their advice. Do you reference what you play out of positions (such as AB down), or do you reference everything against the...

Pedals for sale or trade in Australia (will also ship US)

Hi, I have two pedals I no longer need: 1) An original Sansamp (AKA the Classic- The one with the dip switches on the front) - The original analogue amp modeller/overdrive pedal. This pedal has a few scuffs and scratches but works perfectly. Comes with original box and manual. These things are no lo...

Thanks guys for the info - very succinct.

I'm still a bit perplexed as to why minor chord phrases aren't mentioned in these DVDs. By the same logic he could have had nothing but major phrases, becasue the V chord is just built off the fifth step of the major scale.

I've got a BSG S-10 (bought 2nd hand). It's my first PSG and it seems exceptionally well made. It sounds great too and stays in tune better than any of my 6 string guitars. In fact, I use the tuning wrench so rarely I'm always misplacing it. Also, in my dealings with Don has been very helpful. Cheer...

Question about Jeffran "Up from the Top"

Hi everyone, I recently bought copies of the three UFTT courses offered by Jeffran (A&B Pedals, F Lever and D Lever)and have worked my way through most of the A&B course, with pretty good results. My question is this: In doing this A&B course and flicking through the books for the other ...

David, I have some choice 'relic-ed' picks available for purchase if you want. Each model available in closet classic (like a pick I bought in the 80s, played a few times a year and put back in the guitar case), time machine (like a Jim Dunlop purple tortex that I bought in the 80s but lost down the...
