I decided to try some light strings on my Lazy River to try to minimize the "rattling" noise on the low strings when fretting. I bought a set of D'Addario EJ-16 strings, moved the .16 to the first string and bought a single .18 for the second string. That left me with: 53-42-32-24-18-16 Th...

Consider me a happy LR owner as well!
I got my spruce/walnut weiss a few months ago and I am very pleased with it.
Unfortunately, that results in me playing my dobro less and less these days :-(

New Lazy River weissen-style

Hey all- I always enjoy oggling over everyone's new purchases on this site, so I thought I would throw on a pic of my new Lazy River weissenborn. This is my first "high-end" instrument so I debated what I wanted to do for a long time and I finally decided to bite the bullet. Rance gave me ...

Hey guys, I have a dumb question for you. I am seriously thinking about building a lap steel and I am lost as to where to find some wood for the body. I would love to find some mahogany, but I'm not sure where one would find some. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I just got this dvd last week but I havent had too much time to go through it yet. So far it seems to be very good but it's a little above my abilities right now. I am working with open D tuning and Steve uses open C (CGCGCD)on the dvd, so I am trying to figure out how to convert between the two. So...

Yeah, I just bought a house here a month ago and I was surprised to find that each house has its own tap straight from the Coors brewery! Image

I actually was really close to building one about a month ago. I was planning on buying a premade maple lap body on ebay and doing the rest myself. I bought the "build your own lap steel" book about a year ago and haven’t looked at it till a few months ago. I was really excited to do it un...

Hello and thanks from a new member!

Hi everyone! I have been checking out this site for quite awhile now and thought it was time to finally say hello. I have gotten so much great info off this site so... thank you! I play a Beard Gold Tone reso, and I noodle around on an old Oahu acoustic and a cheapo Artisan lap steel. However, I thi...
