I reckon that song would be hard enough to play as it is without having to pause to dry my eyes a touch.

That's a good idea :)
It hadn't occurred to me to play it the other way around. I'll certainly throw some of that in here and there for trials.

I've definitely found some more uses for this change.

Tony's video also reminds me that I really need to add the 1st string raise to my setup. It's those classic little unison licks in conjunction with the 3rd string that I really notice I don't have available.

That's how I felt for quite some time! :D I'll tell you though, I've been playing music since I was a youngster. Started with piano and classical guitar, but I properly picked up lead guitar several years later at about 15. I've never been much for music theory, but ever since I started pedal steel ...

It's definitely growing on me... :D Playing with some different ways to approach things I'd previously done with the E lever. Going from the I with AB pedals at the 5th fret, to the ii with AB+X at 7th fret does sound much smoother than going for it with the E lever at the 8th, before continuing up ...

I was drooling over the sound clips from your split Franklin pedal page yesterday Greg. It's part of what's keeps pushing me to finally get around to installing it. I really want to have that change to try. I love the sounds available. I do like b0b's IV to iii and I to ii examples as well though. D...

Some great answers here! Thank you all. That's what I love about these fora - plenty of experience and lots of interesting discussion. I'm going to need to play with this one a bit more. Roger Rettig hit it on the head: Any preference has to be influenced by what someone's individual musical priorit...

B to Bb lower - Do you use it?

Hello all! It's been quite a while since I've posted around here, I trust everyone is well? I've been toying with adding a Franklin 4th pedal, but whilst considering the mechanics of making such a change to my less-then-straightforward underside I started looking at the B to Bb lower that I have on ...

I'd love to find a nice image coloured enamel PSG buckle! There are pleanty of nice generic "Country Music" buckle's around. Something other than a standard oval buckle with an image in the middle. Something like this for example: http://www.wizardofoddsandends.com/catalog/ag34e_103_1.jpg ...

I've never been able to understand why 3 pin grounded wiring seemed to be such a late starter in the U.S. and Europe. Living in the UK of course I've grown up with it my whole life. Most sockets for many years now feature an interlock to prevent access to the live and neutral without an earth pin be...

At first I think "blimey, just one tune!? That's going to be a tough decision..." since my taste in music spans probably 20 or more genres and about as many decades. But, as much as I enjoy Bach, Rachmaninov, Vivaldi, Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, Ray Charles... and about a million others there...

Thank you gentlemen. Some usefull suggestions there! Adding a tone control to a preamp is a trivial matter so I'll definatly give those a look-see. I've got a bunch of suitable amp circuits in various books here and there and thanks to the internet I know there are dozens more. Unless anyone has a p...

Matchbox schematic

Hi all! I know there are a number of commercial units available but being of limited funding and always prefering a homebrew for the enjoyment factor I decided that the next quick and easy project will be a homebuilt matchbox. Just the basic set up, tone & volume akin to the Goodrich 6A or 7A. H...

As you can see from my photo above I've currently got two pedals without and one pedal with. To be honest, it makes very little difference on mine. I don't even notice it. The rubber is quite hard and smooth. Might just be because of age, I don't know what it was like originaly but it doesn't affect...

My White steel had rubber pads on. The B pedal pad had almost half worn away, the A pedal about a quarter. I removed what was left as I decided it looked untidy and polished the pedals. The C pedal pad was in perfect condition (show's how much use it got) :D so it's still on there. I expect I'll rem...

It's funny you know, when I first started playing guitar some years ago now, it was Mark Knopfler's (Dire Straits) playing that got me started. Although my style has developed since then I still find myself sounding "Knopfler inspired" quite often. It was also hearing Paul's PSG with Dire ...
