Rubber Covers on Foot Pedals

As you can see from my photo above I've currently got two pedals without and one pedal with.
To be honest, it makes very little difference on mine. I don't even notice it.
The rubber is quite hard and smooth. Might just be because of age, I don't know what it was like originaly but it doesn't affect the playability.

I'm going to remove it only to match the other two and because I like shiney pedals
